A survival game for players who don't hate themselves or their teammates

I mean... After 463 hours I got my money's worth.

it's pretty cute and would recommend anyone to try it out. The free player experience is big enough and without restrictions to get a good feel for the game before you decide to spend money on it. When you eventually do hit the paywall to support development you'll already have a full games' worth of content behind you hour-wise. Whether you think it's worth it from there is up to the individual.

My only gripe is the community half the time. Some people tend to be overly opinionated on which direction development should take and are quick to throw blame and hands to fight about it. then again, others have been really forthcoming and wonderful. I would recommend that most people disable the chat entirely and pop up your favorite chat application with your friends on your second monitor.

I don't think I've had a more profound experience with a game since I was a child. Thank you Larian Studio.

this game made me dislike every other idle game

A classic Early Access title. If you're looking for a gameplay experience there's little of it yet, but the game sees content frequently enough to give me the feeling that it will get there eventually. I'll update my review when there's a gameplay loop to keep player count more consistent instead of just around patch day. Only purchase this title if you want to support the development. It is up to you whether it's worth it or not.

It is by no means a bad game but I definitely would've hoped that the developer had added more content like decorations beyond just the backlight and bedding of your aquarium. I am aware of the fact you can buy decorations, but it's a handful compared to the potential of an idle aquarium game. The fact that they're making a new game (Wing Haven) instead of adding more content to this game is sad when I feel this game could have improved considerably from just a few updates or tweaks, Sadly I don't think I would recommend this game as is unless it's discounted.

This game reminds me so much of breath of the wild (but different) that I keep launching myself off cliffs trying to parachute. 10/10 would recommend!

Century: Age of Ashes is a fun and engaging experience with a unique game style. I played it at launch and have played most of my hours back then. After picking it up again and realising the same flaws continue to drag it down, I decided to write my review. I would recommend it if not for these issues:

The game is still trying to charge its players for game content beyond reason. The DLCs, the in-game store, practically all skins, and the new class are all STILL behind a paywall. This critique is coming from someone who is generally in favour of in-game stores who would not mind paying for appearances in games.

The in-game currencies, gems and Iron Coins are obtained through either purchase or playing the game. While it looks like they have given players a more meaningful way to collect Iron Coins, it is still slow and penalized because the game itself is still bugged. This means you need to be prepared to have your time wasted.

A personal experience with the queuing and matchmaking was getting thrown into a bugged infinite start-screen at the beginning of the match. Five other players and I got penalized for leaving early by alt-F4'ing to get out. Then again when I got thrown out of a match by losing connection to the game server despite having a stable internet connection. I lost any Scores, XP, and quests I might've progressed during that game.

I would ask you to reconsider before spending any money on this game and not to dump too many hours in it either. It's mostly just frustration playing since it was and is such a promising game that's being led in the wrong direction.

Despite not actually owning the game I have spent a good amount of time playing it over Family Share. While it is fully available for me to use I can honestly say that it's a game I would buy just for the sheer joy of owning it myself. It's truly an entertaining experience, and while I had written myself off as not being able to enjoy a game with micro-managing I have fully immersed myself in the stories I am able to partake in with it. I would probably recommend it to anyone vaguely interested in storytelling, strategy, building- or survival games. This title manages to fill out every one of them.
