Nice, straightforward first-person RPG

A challenging game that's better with friends. It has a decent variety of unlockables that keeps the carrot on your stick. The gameplay is centered around risk v. reward where getting all the loot may make you stronger, but the enemies get stronger the longer time goes on as well. In practice, this usually means running the meter out, but it can lead to some interesting strategy.

I can't recommend this game, although I enjoyed my time with it. The zones all became a bit too similar in their fall hues. Is it too much to ask for some biome-diversity a la beaches and/or snow? The fast-travel system includes a camp during every load time, leading to a lot of dead air during the game. The writing, although given branching choices similar to a Bioware game, is a bit shallow, where oftentimes the good choice and the best choice are one and the same. Combatwise, the enemies have the same depth after 4 hours as they do after 40. There isn't much in way of progressive difficulty other than more health and/or damage. This isn't Divinity Origianl Sin. I enjoyed my playthrough, and I look forward to a sequel, but I have a hard time recommending this to anyone that's not a hardcore western RPG fan (think, witcher 1).
