While it's far from a perfect game, and other reviews will tell you the same, this game is incredibly fun and funny. It's a bizarre, somewhat sleepy town that I'm assuming is northern US/Canadian in inspiration, and you are returning home to find your uncle missing, and a wealth of options before you. Want to assemble the car in pieces on your property? Want to bring scrap and refuse to the recycler for a profit? Want to scavenge the myriad of car parts left on the ground throughout the town and run with them half blocking your view so you can drop them off for some cash? You can do that and more, and I'm sure there are things I'm not even aware of yet. For the amount of enjoyment I've already had, and will likely find more of, I think that more than justifies the price. And it has the best title screen song ever. Full stop.

I'll give it another try later most likely, but the general gameplay loop felt so bland compared to the game's aesthetic. The movement, both on foot and in vehicle, felt floaty and the combat was unremarkable.

I tried. I really did. For a little bit, it clicked, but the initial shine of what seemed to be a vibrant world with cute characters gave way to the true core of repetitive, lifeless gameplay and robotic NPCs that make the occasional attempt at whimsy, only to more often than not serve up trite and hollowly saccharine drek.

I'm having so much fun with this. Exploration paced well with discoveries that both expand on the world and enable new access and abilities keep me wanting to play just a little bit longer. It's one of those games I think about when I'm not playing it. And I'm not able to anticipate what may come next, which is even more exciting.

UPDATE: 373+ hours now. Send help?

I've put several hours into both TF2 and L4D(2) and this game immediately hit me as a combination of the two in the best way. Each class is distinct and serves a function, and there are great synergies between them that really shine when you play with one of each. Most amazingly, it overcomes one of the greatest flaws of multiplayer games in that it has an overwhelmingly awesome community that make pubbing often a joy.

Innovative and unique gameplay that melds with a wonderful visual style and sound design.

I have no desire to spoil this game. I will say that it is very dark and deals with several issues that are shocking/upsetting. The writing is top notch, the atmosphere is dark and claustrophobic, and I will probably be thinking about this game for some time.

One of the best combinations of survival, crafting and combat, this game is very fun solo and absolutely shines with friends.
