This is the greatest monster team building game ever made. This is not hyperbole, this is fact.

Fantastic survivor game that is only superficially akin to Vampire Survivors. Builds have much more depth and there is a massive variety of attacks and passive effects to combine, along with out of game meta elements like runes and individual weapon selection. On top of that there are now 3 fully fleshed-out play modes and more quality of life features than I can name.

Everyone has talked about the bizarre combination of idol management, horse girls, and racing, so I'm not going to get into that. What I want to talk about is the writing, because these characters are immensely likeable and I actually feel bad about skipping events and dialogue I haven't already seen. I'm in a rush at the moment because this is still a gatcha banner-driven game at the end of the day, but hopefully once I've finished getting my maxed out Kitasan Black I will be able to slow down and enjoy the stories more.

Haters gonna hate, but this game is solid (better than Hearthstone for sure) and after experiencing my last favorite PvP card game become a PvE game due to lack of monetization when it came to getting cards (RIP Runeterra) I am not going to complain that the business making this game is charging money to play it. You can get heaps of free cards by just playing the game and while you may be limited to focusing on one archetype for a while, you can definitely build at least one winning deck as a free-to-player. In the first set release there was a decent consensus online that one of the best (if not the actual best) deck was also extremely light on legendary cards and one of the cheapest to craft, anyone could have as a free player.

With that out of the way, something that should be of interest to people who played games like Runeterra is that this game exposes NOTHING via API. There are no public websites with stat tracking on play rates or win rates of any given card or deck used in the ranked ladder. WE ARE VIBES META, COME ON IN THE WATER IS FINE.

Finally, I didn't play the original Shadowverse and I feel for the people who have been left behind with all their MTX and cards from the base game, but it lasted 9 years and I feel like you should never spend money on digital goods expecting them to be supported by NEW unannounced content forever. The warning went out 2 years ago that Worlds Beyond was coming, so everyone had 2 years to stop spending money if that was their decision. The original game is still online and still hosting regular tourneys and events, it just won't be getting new expansions from here. Everyone still has access to anything they ever spent money on, and can still play the game. If you really love the original game more than the direction this one is going in, nothing is stopping you from going back to what you liked more.

As for me, I love Worlds Beyond and will be playing it obsessively for the foreseeable future.

Game is a treat, Team Ninja did a great job making Final Fantasy into a 3rd person brawl with seemingly infinite potential for personal builds and combinations of weapons and jobs. I can't actually recommend this highly enough if you like difficult, fast paced action games. Chaos.

This game is a wild take on "what if the NES had procedural gen roguelike twin stick shooters?" and I love it. The art, sound, and music are all wonderful and complement each other well. The action is fast paced and quickly becomes extremely difficult as you explore deeper into the ruins.

I would recommend this to anyone who likes procedural gen stuff & fast paced shooter action, whether you are into the retro aesthetic or not. For me the retro style just adds more appeal on top of a solid foundation that anyone can enjoy.

This game is amazingly great if you're into platformers. It reminds me a lot of Ninja Gaiden and other NES era classic action platformers.

Game worked fine for me without any crashes or other problems. I only played a little multi-player, though. The environments are incredibly detailed and I love the soundscape. The combat is hectic and a little wonky, you need to be prepared before the waves come at you, getting in position after they're on top of you is difficult (naturally). I played on the 3rd (out of 4) difficulty settings.
