- Played on AMD Ryzen 7 1700x, 32GB RAM, ROG STRIX 1070ti 8GB.
- 2560x1440 (2k quality)
- Mix of High, ultra and medium (for more demanding video options) settings.
- Game ran mostly at 60fps+. There would be some drops to 40fps at times due to the amount of things shown on the screen. However, game was fully playable and I didn't encounter any bugs or crashes throughout my single-player playthrough.

To start with, I have played the previous installments (Sniper Elite 2, 3, 4 and their zombie spin-offs) and, compared with its predecessors, Sniper Elite 5 feels almost like the ultimate package so far.

This review will be only based on the single-player part of the game as I haven't touched either the 'Axis Invasion' or 'Multiplayer' modes.

The campaign maps are massive and give you plenty of freedom. You are basically dropped into a semi-open world area for each mission where they give you multiple objectives (main and secondary ones, only the main ones are mandatory) and also more than one way to tackle them. Let's say you have to destroy a generator, you can either blow it up with explosives or cut out the wires that powers it up. Or maybe you have to clear out a checkpoint of soldiers, this can be done stealthily up close, rushing in guns-blazing or also far away from a sniper spot. Besides, there's usually more than one way to reach your objective, whether is it through climbing or finding a secret locked door (in which you have to find the key beforehand with one of the soldiers or around the door area) or tunnels. Something worth mentioning about the campaign is that, if you play with minimal to no HUD (like I did for my entire playthrough), the protagonist gives you clues/hints or updates you about new objectives that you encounter in the field which can be amazingly helpful when you combine it with the in-game map to check out your mission progress. Just remember to not rush the campaign. As the maps are huge, take your time. Try to do missions stealthily, explore as much as you can so you can discover various collectibles, exotic weapons, items, etc. Enjoy what each map has to offer as they were undoubtedly beautifully crafted.

Even though the campaign mode is wonderfully made, one downside for me would be the customization. And why is that? As I've mentioned before, the maps are massive and obviously filled with collectibles, intel for objectives and there are also the 'workbenches' which works like a 'loadout switcher' during the mission. However, you have to find these 'workbenches' around the map to unlock more attachments for your weapons (suppressors, gun barrels, grips, etc). So, in case you finish your main mandatory objectives and want to exfiltrate but missed one of these workbenches, you'll have to replay the mission later and find them and unlock any desired attachments. Despite that, even though the weapons arsenal is significantly smaller than previous sniper elites, you can greatly customize your main sniper, secondary weapon and pistol. During each mission, you can also carry a 'temporary weapon' (dropped weapons, basically) and they don't replace your main weapons that you've chosen before the mission.

As for difficulty, I love that it is 100% customizable. You can have super intelligent enemies that flank you constantly and are not bullet spongy or overly accurate, which is usually what the 'hard difficulties' are disguised of and all about. You can also customize the 'sniper shooting' experience (gravity and wind) and also the hud. For my playthrough, I set the HUD to minimal (used the in-game map to guide myself, it's the classic 'M' key on your keyboard), disabled the empty lung assistance indicator (where the shot would land, basically), activated gravity impact and disabled the wind effects. As for the enemies, I set them to be overly experienced/intelligent but not bullet spongy. This way, they would spot me easily, flank me, but once we engaged out of stealth, I could take them down easily if my awareness and reaction times were on point. Furthermore, when it came to tanking bullets, I did not change this option, I kept it on default. To me, this made the game fun and challenging, it had a great balance between both. It wasn't overly easy but it wasn't also superbly difficult that it would ruin the fun.

Character movement is certainly an improvement. In Sniper Elite 4, the protagonist would move around too slowly (even when crouched) and that kind of ruined the fun for me. Now in SE5, the character walks around a bit faster and movement is much more fluid.

Weapons as a whole feel great and the gun sounds are also on point. To my mind, the gunplay in shooting games need to have its fair share of realistic sounds and weapon feel otherwise the game feels bland and the guns feel that they are made out of plastic. Thankfully, this doesn't happen here. Guns are loud and heavy as they are supposed to be. Landing headshots from far far away is deeply satisfying and it truly makes you feel somewhat like a real sniper.

Graphics are outstandingly great here, you have its fair share of places to go and climb and enjoy the view for some beautiful screenshots. On the other hand, they were not the selling point for me. I guess the gameplay itself counted much more at the end of the day.

Would I recommend Sniper Elite 5? Obviously! If you are a hardcore fan of the series, simply go for it! As mentioned previously, Sniper Elite 5 combines all the elements from its predecessors and tries to create the ultimate sniping experience for you.
In case you are still unsure, wait for a sale. Just don't sleep on this game, you certainly won't be disappointed.

I come from PS4, I have around a thousand or more hours in there. This is the best game I've played hands down. Its online mode might not be the best but the singleplayer totally makes up for it.

Don't let the bad reviews fool you, this game is great. If weren't for the open beta, I wouldn't have bought it. However, if you're still not sure whether to buy it or not, wait for a sale.

Pros:
- Easy to learn, hard to master.
- Customization
- Graphics
- Animations

Cons:
- Connection (Everybody knows this, but dedicated servers are coming in the future, so lets hope for the best)

- Noob stomping (If you're planning to buy the game now, make sure you dive deep into the heroes moveset, get to know how to counter every hero, especially the OP ones. Also, if you have someone who already plays the game to help you, it will be much better).

*EDIT* June 25th.

- Dedicated servers have been added since the beginning of the year. The game is much more smoother now. Host migrations, resyncs, connection crashes, they're all gone.

- Soon there will be a new faction with 4 new heroes along with a new gamemode. More stuff to learn, new strategies, etc.
