A beautiful open-world racing game. Insane amounts of races to complete, cars to collect and boards to smash. It's no Burnout Paradise, but then again what is?

I'm not gonna say avoid a game that I spent close to 100 hours playing. The combat is fun and engaging, the main plot is fine, the school investigations and side quests are zany. Also, the game works great on Steam Deck: No freeze issues carried over from Judgment, no slowdowns even in huge 20+ character fights.

THAT SAID, Earlier this year, I bounced off of Infinite Wealth because of the choice paralysis-inducingly huge amount of content it offers. I pivoted to Lost Judgment thinking it would be a more focused side story, kind of like LAD Gaiden. That was incorrect! Judgment games are just as long and overfilled with stuff to do as the mainline LAD games.

I wouldn't let myself put the game down until I beat Amon, so this is totally self-inflicted. I could have called it quits 20-30 hours earlier if I had been willing to settle for a lower achievement score, but that just wasn't in the cards!
  • The boxing, robotics and biker gang storylines are slogs; I think they could have been cut down by half with no impact to the stories they told.
  • The scrounging around and crafting for extracts, robotics, drone, etc. is insane.
  • Having access to all of Kamurocho was unnecessary; quick cordoned off stops to important locations (Genda Law, Yagami's office, etc.) would have been more than enough.
  • Having squirrel graffiti all over Kamurocho made no narrative sense, and again was just more padding.
By all accounts Sega and RGG Studios want to keep up with the breakneck 1 game/year pace. I hope that this comes with a producer/editor who's willing to tighten up the content bloat that has been getting more and more out of hand.

I don't see this game getting on anyone's best of lists, but it's a totally serviceable beat 'em up. There are plenty of characters to unlock and play as in the 5-6 playthroughs you will need to complete in order to get 100% achievements. The presentation is fine: Both the graphics and music are simple and colorful and catchy.

In the Double Dragon pantheon, I'd put it below DD Advance, DD 2 (NES), DD Neon and DD (NES), but riiiight above Super DD and way beyond anything else.

I 100%'ed the trophies in 6.9 hours, but I still want to play to get higher spots on the leaderboards. This game is really well put together. You can tell the developer had a clear scope in mind and they hit it out the park. A wonderful Sega Rally-style arcade racer.

A great remaster for a truly underrated hidden gem from the late nineties. Visual fidelity and controls are way better than any previous versions. The added areas, enemies and bosses are all welcome additions. Please play this game!

Ys is a great series of mindless popcorn anime ARPG. I think I liked the cast of characters and the setting in 8 better, but this game was still plenty of fun. Two thumbs up!

Puzzling mechanics that are a lot of fun to suss out. Finding quotes from books I've read in the past makes me feel smart. Highly recommended!

These games are fine and M2 does great work presenting them as well as possible. Please please please put out a Symphony of the Night/Rondo of Blood collection on Steam!

Funny meme game of Fall 2022 is pretty great for what it is. Playing the trombone is awkward and goofy. Lots of accessibility options make it easy to jump into. I don't see how you can get the true ending without a guide, but it's still a fun experience.
