Early Access Review
Right now this game is kind of in a feedback loop. One can see that there isn't a large player base so they are discouraged from playing the game, thus reducing any chance this game has at increasing its player base. Also, many of the players that still play this game still play it because they're already good at it. New players tend to join lobbies with 10+ year veterans and obviously get bodied. Of course that's an awful feeling, and that's another reason why many people don't play this game. I myself find myself playing against bots a lot which provide an ample challenge. That should not discourage you though -- just join a bot lobby. Despite being full of "bots", they don't play akin to what one might think of when hearing of a bot lobby.

Besides that, I find this game to be exhilarating: it's super fast paced, and nothing beats strafing around a map at mach 3. I feel that unlike many multiplayer shooters these days that feature a plethora of CC and shields, Quake rewards a player's aim, and that's why at the end of the day I keep coming back to play this game.

Sure there are flaws, the engine is kinda crap (and runs like it as well), but I feel that it is made up for with the sound and character design.

Try it out!

Not very many players online, but still a fun game. I play this when I get bored of CS:GO.

My only gripe is that somehow malicious servers can override your controls.
For example, a server overwrote my keybind configuation so that every time I pressed w, it would connect to their server.
