Early Access Review
One of the most polished early access games I ever played. Very good immersion, incredible graphics, amazing performance/FPS and stability, and very fun gameplay. We encountered only a couple of minor bugs, and we had a blast playing. We have yet to beat the game on nightmare difficulty. The threats and objectives scale very well with the number of players. Meaning that you can play it solo perfectly fine, if you dare. You can definitely see that the devs only wish to release content in a polished and playable state.

The most annoying issue we found is that when someone inevitably disconnects by accident, they should be allowed to rejoin their friends in-game. It sucks when you have to miss out on progressing because you are unable to rejoin a private session (it says the code is incorrect until the host is back in the lobby again).

But other than that; so far it's a solid base to build more content on!

The game looks stunning, has remarkable sound effects (the explosions sound awesome) and has a lot of a promise. As a long time G-Police fan, I can't wait for it to be finished!

However I cut my playtime short, because I was getting annoyed by performance issues. This indeed truly is an alpha version (and not a Demo). Bad overall performance, framerates all over the place, the occasional stuttering, and crackling audio.

Running it on a 14900KF and a 4070 Ti @ 1440p, and it barely stays at 50-60 FPS at high (not ultra) settings and medium AA. Going up into the clouds tanks the framerate to below 40. The game desperately needs better optimization and/or DLSS/FSR/XeSS, because even with DSR enabled at 4K it looks bad without anti aliasing.

I urge the devs to really take their time and patience and not rush it to the finishline. It has so much potential and I can see it becoming one of my all time favorites. But I don't see a release happening in 2025 if you guys wanna do all your time and effort justice!

Such a waste that the game has rubber banding.

Story: 6/10
In the beginning it felt like the story was kind of bland. The part where Joel was killed off felt like a forced shock factor and that the writers did him dirty. Even though the intention clearly was that the player should warm up and/or feel more compassionate to Abby, I had a real hard time doing so. It's not that I hated her for killing Joel per se. But I couldn't really relate to the character.

However, the story picks up after about 1/5th of the game and it gets more interesting. Especially some of the backstories/memories are interesting, and you get to experience plenty of good, tense and emotional moments with Joel and Ellie that occurred between part one and two.

Gameplay: 8/10
The gameplay is at least as good as part one, with new weapons, upgrades, items to craft, and enemies. The environments are a LOT bigger, with more stuff, hints and hidden backstories to find. At times the amount of scavenging was getting a bit cumbersome, and found myself longing for a jumpscare or some enemies. But it felt necessary to look for resources for potential fights to come. The new reloading mechanic was kinda weird to me as well. The game is also a lot longer than part one, which I like.

Graphics & Sound: 10/10
Nothing short of phenomenal. You can really see that Naughty Dog strives for perfection, and they succeeded. The motion capture, voice acting and facial expressions make the characters really feel alive and natural. The incredibly detailed areas are ridiculously stunning and beautifully crafted. The audio is perfect, from the footsteps on the different ground surfaces to the voices in the distance during shootouts.

The game crashes randomly with DLSS enabled. It runs on FSR, but I didn't buy an RTX 4070 Ti so I could run a poorly optimized glorified walking simulator using upscaling technology from another vendor. So I refunded it.

Atmosphere seemed really great and nostalgic though. Shame the devs had to use UE.

Early Access Review
This game is hilarious, especially for the price.

I followed all instructions listed at the Hotfix 1.05 notes, but can't get it to run right. The game runs like absolute dogsh*te. And if I turn down the settings low enough so it's not jittery anymore, it looks like absolute dogsh*te. Why does the graphics reset button set everything to epic, when it runs so bad? And why is there dynamic resolution necessary? It's almost 2025, DLSS, FSR and XeSS are the norm nowadays.

Running a 14900KF and 4070 Ti, all VR games run great, except this one.

It had good reviews so I tried it. It's not really for me and it felt a bit too childish for my taste. ESPECIALLY considering the rediculous price, it's not worth holding on to it on my stockpile of unplayed games. Refunded.

Bought the hard copy at release in 2015, now time to revisit on Steam. Can't believe it has been almost 10 years since Bethesda in-house developed such a great game. It's incredible as ever, but it runs like absolute dogpoo. The kind of poo you accidentally step into and smear on your car carpet and pedals.

I had to disable Weapon Debris to make it past the intro mission, and had to leave it disabled so the game would only crash sometimes instead of all the time. Loading screens towards the commonwealth are bugged, forcing me to ALT+TAB back and forth get past it. This is on a 13600K, 32GB RAM, 4070Ti, Win11, latest drivers.

I expected that the recent update actually was to address potential compatibility issues, but it seems to have introduced numerous problems instead.

Will recommend the game after these issues are fixed.

Normally not my kind of game, but this is great! I like the narrator especially.
