First off, you can tell by my profile I fish, a lot, both salt water and freshwater. I am viewing this as a FISHING Game from a fishermans perspective as well as a gamer.

1- This is not a fishing sim as bad as I wish it was. Hopefully with updates they can change that. If you are looking for a sim, this isnt your game.
a. Some unrealistic aspects. A 10 lb bass and a 1 lb bass both will eat the same bait. Yes this is true IRL but the chances are much smaller that a bigger fish will take the smaller bait. This is easy to change from a gameplay mechanic. Just make gold + diamond bass only go after the bigger bait + hook sizes.
b. Heavier line should only be uses in reaction bite techniques like crank baits and swim baits. Float and worm / jigg setups should only have a chance at catching fish with lighter line. FISH CAN SEE LINE

2- Fishing mechanics
a. The Fishing is actually great. Light line and light tackle = longer more risky fights which is realistic. The rod movements and hand placement could use some work but that will get better with updates

3- Environment + Immersion
a. This is where Expansive Worlds miss hurts me the most. The game looks and feels like an EA game and the quality of the water and fish in the water is laughable. I know that with time they will fix it and a recent hot fix has helped.

1- As a fisherman I am disappointed, as casual gamer I am happy. Hopefully they fix the issues and want to work with a real fisherman on development because the game has a ton of potential.
