Truly bad. The cut scenes are so poorly acted and voiced they're painful to watch, and I've never said that about a game before. The action itself once you get past the laborious cut scenes is run of the mill fps without anything to really make it stand out. You play for a bit, then comes another dreaded cut scene or bit of dialogue read with all the energy of wet bread. The character models are awful, showing no emotion at all, with hollow expressions. I don't like giving negative reviews, but after 20 minutes of play and two cut scenes, I uninstalled this stinker. Avoid this one, even if it's free.

This game went on sale for $4.99 during one of Steam's many great events. Judging by the videos and screen caps, I decided to pull the trigger and buy it. I've been a fan of Mario Kart for years, but being that the game is locked on Nintendo consoles (not including emulation) Sonic All Stars Racing: Transformed looked like a great alternative. Well, after playing it for several hours now, I have to say, it is not a great alternative. It is a SUPERIOR game through and through. Simply put, it's been a while since I've had this much fun playing a game. It offers things Mario Kart never did and the characters are fun and memorable. The unlocks, the different tracks, weapons, and challenges will keep you busy for hours in singleplayer, and then there's online play against other drivers after that! I am so happy I decided to get this game and will be playing it for months if not years to come. I highly recommend it. One thing that you should know, you'll need some type of gamepad to really play this game the way it was meant to be. I use a wired Xbox 360 controller that I picked up used several years ago. Anything with several buttons and analog sticks will work though.
