A great pick up and play game for local multiplayer (or remote play).

It's very simple. There aren't really any options. But if you want a multiplayer game that anybody can join in and instantly have a great time, this is it.

Mod it to add additional songs and create one of the best VR games you can get. An excellent party game, only issue is you will end up with a sweaty headset.

Advanced Wars, but with a terrible UI, bland graphics, a dull story and all the fun removed.

A crap Mario Kart. Get the vastly better Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed instead.

On the plus side, Alpha Prime’s cut scenes are so bad they’re almost amusing. Monotone voices recite bizarre dialog, main character Arnold makes side remarks to his ally Livia, then Pablo turns up with his broken English and immediately starts taking about flotillas hidden in shoes. What?!

Alpha Prime reminds me of the generic Doom clones that came out in the early 90’s when everybody and their mother was having a go at making these games. You wander down generic corridors, often without any objective. Robotic foes turn up and stand largely motionless while their hitscan weapons cause your health bar to deplete, and you fire back with an arsenal seemingly manufactured by Fisherprice,

Also who names their FPS protagonist Arnold?

It’s difficult to mess up the basics of a platformer, but this game does its best. Controls are horrible, the menu is painfully sluggish and the graphics means it’s difficult to see anything. I award you no stars.

Stick of Truth is just as obscene and irreverent as you’d expect from a South Park game. It is also genuinely laugh out loud funny.

That’s basically all you need to know. The gameplay itself is basic. It’s barely an RPG: you don’t speak so there’s no dialog choices (or really any meaningful choices to be made) and everything from JRPG combat to equipment management is very simple. But really the game is a backdrop to the humour.

This is a South Park comedy taking advantage of the medium of gaming more than it is a game taking advantage of the setting of South Park. The story takes some of the best bits from the show and it does what is does very well. The presentation is basically flawless, it really does look and feel like South Park.

Yes there are jokes about farts and disability and ethnicity and abortions and... and you will try to pretend to feel guilty about laughing, but you won’t really because you’re having too much fun.

So much wrong here.

The controls feel like you’re spinning round an action figure rather than somebody with any weight. You find yourself being constantly being thrown around like a ragdoll and most of my deaths seemed to come from being shunted off a platform, resulting in a frustrating return to the last checkpoint.

Actually the platforming in general is just annoying. The game sticks to the Star Wars universe’s famous lack of health and safety regulations, so any false step will send you plummeting down a chasm. The camera is less than helpful here and there’s an obscene number of invisible walls placed seemingly at random (jumping towards a bridge, hitting an invisible wall mid-air and sliding down into the mouth of Sarlacc was a particularly ignoble end).

The story is nonsense with a painfully bland protagonist. You are meant to be uber powerful but even your force powers are unsatisfying to use, when using force grip it feels like you are wobbling an object in to place rather than showing any mastery. The only time you actually do something impressing is in the numerous quick time sequences with pop up to disrupt any sort of flow in the game.

Oh and that Star Destroyer sequence from the trailer.. it’s one of the most of the most painfully terrible bits of gameplay I’ve experienced.
