Played one game and the enemy team didn't get any kills.
Played another game and our team didn't get any kills.

Had about the same amount of fun in both games.

The game's pacing isn't exactly enjoyable with how downtime functions. The maps feel barren due to their scale but small teams. Fundamentally, this feels more like a gameMODE concept versus an entire game with how bare bones it feels. Skip this one for now. (3v3 was a horrible decision)

Early Access Review
For an early access title, there's a lot of really great stuff here already. Both space and ground combat are fun, the environments look great, the soundtrack is very fitting, and the game runs great. At the time of writing, I've only put about 5 hours into the game so far, however I want to break down my current pros and cons. So let's start with:

The Pros:
  • Performance - I'm able to hold a consistent 140+ FPS about 95% of the time. There's been a few drops here and there, but they've ironed out quickly.
  • Lack of Bugs - I haven't encountered a single major bug yet. For an early access title, that's virtually unheard of this day and age.
  • Combat - While the combat is a little basic, the guns feels good on both the ship and ground combat. The animations help sell the impact as well.
  • Art Style - Everything from the environments to the player design look great. It feels slightly stylized while remaining grounded.
  • Sound Design - Both the soundtrack and the sound effects are solid and fit the style of the game.
  • Gameplay - While it would probably take forever to list out the specific of each moment of gameplay I enjoy, overall the pacing and moment-to-moment gameplay is very fun.

The Cons:
  • Ship Shield System - Luckily, there's a "Shield Revamp" already on the roadmap, so there's a good chance this is only a temporary drawback at the moment, but the way shields currently work on your ship function more like armor instead. Shields do not recharge when they take damage, and instead break until you can repair them with a shield repair module. In ship combat, it becomes a pretty common loop of constantly zipping around the ship to repair each shield node, which feels a bit tedious.
  • Mission Variety - I can definitely see the game getting a bit repetitive after some time as it currently stands. Again, there's more to come on the roadmap, but I could see after 15-20 hours personally starting to feel like I'm playing the same content over and over again.
  • Unique Player Roles - As it stands right now, there isn't really any way to "specialize" into a certain "job" on your ship if you're playing with friends. Everyone should be capable of doing anything, but it would help with individuality if a Gunner could do more ship damage/use less ammo, etc. Or an Engineer could repair more efficiently/keep the shields online longer. There appears to be a "Player Trait" system on the roadmap, so I'm looking forward to that.

Overall I think the game is very fun - especially for just $20. The devs seem like invested, genuine people, so I'm excited to stick with this game and see how the development continues to grow the game!

Excellent level design, gunplay, and simple but effective storytelling — all wrapped up in a nice 2 hour experience. Highly recommend checking this out, especially for the price! I really look forward to whatever this dev makes in the future!

Early Access Review
The game has a ton of potential. The music and art direction are incredible. My main criticisms at the moment are related to some of the animations, the movement, and the gunplay — all still need some more time in the oven. I know this game is still very early access, so seeing the dedication of the devs and the product that's already available makes me very hopeful for the future of this game. Overall, I'd recommend snagging this game if you're ok with dealing with a little jank but like 4 player PvE games!

Great combat, music, design, variety, mechanics, and more words I'm just too lazy to type out. Worth the price for hours of fun.
