I have very mixed feelings on this game, its mostly positve, but I feel strongly enough about it to write a review.

I loved it, I really did, but after I toughened up past some of the real tedious stuff. As a huge marvel and card game fan I was really hyped to start this, it seemed like I was the exact audience for this. Story is killer, the cutscenes alone would make a solid MCU film. Core tactics card game play is extremely fun.

The complaints I had are based around all of the really tedious hub world stuff. The card crafting and resource gathering seems kinda silly imo, I want to be able to just over time unlock the cards as they level up, not rng based. The real finicky stat buffs you can give, the like 6 different menus per station, it's all kind too much.

The social aspect (friendship) is kinda wack, sometimes it's really difficult to grind a level for a character, and I couldn't figure out why other than taking them on missions and doing the hangouts. Dialogue wise, kinda dry? I don't really like those kinds of games (Persona etc) and I feel like this game didn't really need that at all. Also the writing is SUPER cheese about 70% of interactions, it got a little tiring I skipped most of it. The WORST part of this, is that each characters Midnight Suns ability is locked behind maxing out your relationship with them, so you genuinely have to commit time into this part of the game for some characters to shine, which imo is lame.

Ideally, the game would be JUST the core tactics, hub exploration, and maybe lighter on the relationship stuff? Or not at all, and I could just get my cards via regular leveling up.

Overall, if you can get past these parts, game is really awesome. The cinematic feel is there, if you love tactics, marvel, card games, boom this is def for you. I liked it enough to write a real review about it, I want more people to play this so I can see a sequel lol. Give it a try if its on sale!!

Listen. You think you know board games? Think again. Move aside Monopoly, Yahtzee, Risk, LIFE, there are some big players in town. We've got games about EVERYTHING. We've got games about space politics, we've got games about herding cattle, we've got games about birds, butterflies, zoo's, and every fantasy genre and sci-fi ameritrash in between. It's a good time, and even if you just want to play Monopoly and life? You can do that too. Wait for a sale to come by if its hard on the wallet, but damn, get this game!
