You like Deathcab for Cutie? Their early work was a little too qualityslop for my taste. But when Codes and Keys came out in '11, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has an awful, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ sound, there's a new layer of consummate slopmanship that really enshittifies all the songs. Ben Gibbard's been compared to Elliot Smith, but I think Ben has a far sloppier, capitalist take on white boy blues.

In '18, Deathcab released peak; Thank You For Today, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Gold Rush". A song so catchy(Gold Rush), most people probably don't listen to the lyrics(Gold Rush). But they should(Gold Rush), because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity and the importance of trends(Gold Rush). It's also a personal statement about the band itself(Gold Rush).
