This is an extremely good and unique take on the roguelike deckbuilder with, as I've now come to expect from Rocket Rat, really excellent aesthetics and writing. It's a rare deckbuilder that passes the "would I rather just play Slay the Spire again" test, but this one does, with flying colours.

And hey, if you liked this you should check out Sunshine Heavy Industries, which also rules.

very idiosyncratic game about trying to get a handle on modern Canadian politics. would be really good for civics classrooms!

This is a great, stylish game - exactly the type of short, cracking action game I felt like playing through today. Every level has some new idea and while they don't all completely work out (I was super frustrated with one or two levels), I finished the game satisfied and wanting more. Highly recommended for the action junkie in your life.

I like a lot of things about this game.

1) Really lovely soundtrack.
2) Great writing that hits hard when it needs to and is charming and real when it doesn't. The kids are always bored. Often people comment on the food. This is exactly what happens at funerals.
3) The focus on environmentally-friendly mourning practices. Was really not expecting this, and was pleasantly surprised.
4) An inclusive approach to mourning that, though its "action" focuses on basically Christian practices, acknowledges cultural differences.
5) What little gameplay there is could have gradually gotten more difficult and "plate-spinning", a la Papers, Please. It doesn't. This is a clearly intentional choice as doing otherwise would distract from the narrative and themes of the piece. There was probably an earlier version of this game that followed more typical gameplay "rules", and they probably decided at some point that that would only alienate the people who wanted what the game was actually offering. This was the right move. As a result, my partner and I could play this together and it was a great experience all around.
