If you played ninja-based side scrollers as a kid, this game perfectly captures the feel of those games with updated graphics, adjustable loadouts, and a great combo system. It's a bite-sized snack of a game, but still highly recommended!

Whatever you know about this game, you should immediately stop learning any more and just buy it. Don't even read the rest of this review. Just stop. Stop! Go buy, and play, and know is little as possible.

It's not without a few bugs and some flaws, but overall I've had a great time playing this game! The sneaking and gunplay both feel pretty good, the writing and world building are compelling, and the vibes are impeccable! I will say that the mutants are bullet sponges and the humans are aimbots, but I also feel like those are acknowledged issues that the devs might still patch. (And if not, there are plenty of mods to adjust things to your liking.) Really, though, it's helping me to adjust my approach to gameplay away from aggressively engaging with any hostile creature or character I see toward picking and choosing my fights, which I actually find to be a fun and different way to play a first person shooter. This is not a game where you _want_ to get into a fight, even though the combat is smooth and feel great.

This is probably the best metroidvania that's come out since Bloodstained. The controls feel great, and there's a very satisfying feeling of mobility and power progression as you unlock the various abilities. In particular, they did a great job with the traversal. It feels great to move through the levels, and if you're clever there are usually ways to get to certain areas without using the obvious tools provided (which feels very intentional). The enemies all make sense thematically and it's clear what they're doing and why, but they're reasonably different than any I've seen in other games. I enjoyed the eldritch horror vibe and thought the writing was pretty good, but it's mostly there as atmosphere; I wouldn't call this a story driven game, by any means. It's pretty quick - if you blast through it, you could probably beat it in ten hours, or if you really want to 100% everything, maaaaybe twenty. I don't think that's a bad thing, though, and there's a modest amount of replayability if you want to try a harder difficulty or different powers. All in all, I definitely recommend this game!

Such a great game, and now the sequel is out! One of the most amazing things about HZD is how many different approaches are viable. I've heard people who went full stealth archery, or built elaborate trap setups, or just charge in and melee smash all say that they thought surely the way they were playing it is how the devs intended, because it worked so well.

This is pure, uncut, poker flavored black tar roguelite heroin. You're gonna love it.

Look, it's Vampire Survivors. You don't need me to tell you it's good at this point. And it's *stupidly* cheap. Why are you even reading this? Just buy the game.
