With about 8 hours of compelling gameplay, I had a pretty good time.

I actually really enjoyed the "feeling" of different terrain types that are gradually introduced; the speed you move and soundscape make it feel even more intuitive. And the equipped items that can navigate them easier makes this even more engaging.
There were a lot of novel barriers to learn about and overcome: darkness, gas clouds, diving...fish walls? Most memorable is easily the surprise static interference. That was sick.

Some dislikes: There are periods of heavy lag on certain levels, and some dialogue/actions that get repetitive enough to be frustrating. A couple of bugs sprang up during my playtime, but a game reset took care of it without much affect on the save. This isn't so much a dislike, but I think there are a few areas of the game that could do with some light music (love the trailer music, btw)

I would love more characters, more story, more game, and more polish. BUT, for the price, this is a gem.

Very cute.
Combat is not too technically demanding, but you are rewarded for skill and timing.
Dungeons are procedurally generated, unfortunately not a lot of variation in combat room layout; .
A decent variety of enemies whose patterns and movement seem internally consistent, feels good to learn and improve for each enemy.

The other half of the game (the cult building part) is a resource gathering/management sim that can augment your combat stats and abilities.

Overall the game feels like a fusion of the aesthetic of Binding of Isaac, the town/resource management of Darkest Dungeon w/ some elements of a mastery system in Rogue Legacy, while the combat is reminiscent of Bastion. I'm extremely satisfied with the blend.

A fun and creative deck-building game with a roguelike spin. Slay the Spire has 4 different classes with cards and abilities unique to them. Every class has a variety of ways to support aggressive or defensive playstyles (there's even a few infinite combos if you get lucky!). Each deck archetype is fairly distinct and offers enough replayability for a lifetime and more.

Can't recommend Slay the Spire enough for anyone who enjoys deckbuilding games! Get it!
