One generation ago I bought 2 snakes for my daughter, one laid eggs, giving me 4 more snakes, then some time passed, things happened... Long story short, I now own 37 snakes.

A very cute simulation game where you're a head of a Roman family in the times of the Roman Republic. Your goal is to make your family rich and influential. You get to educate your children, choose the right marriage partners for them, buy properties, run in elections, participate in festivals... The early stages of the game are quite challenging but, of course, once you get rich, things get a lot smoother.

My number of hours played is not fully accurate for this game, as I usually play offline, but I can tell you that I'm on year 2641 AUC... using our calendar that's 1888. If you like games where you get to roleplay and use your imagination and you find some degree of repetitiveness relaxing, I really recommend this one.

One of those games that you can play over and over and there's always some fun new strategy to try. The concept is simple, the synergies are very clever, the writing is witty and the icons are adorable. 10/10 game, no notes.

You can seduce a priest, 10/10.

Seriously though, it's a fun game that does something new and I really appreciate it. It has dating sim elements, but it's not really just a dating sim - there's much more at stake. The core loop is simple, but engaging. This isn't just a visual novel that's mostly just reading. It's clear the devs have some fresh ideas and I hope they'll continue going in this direction with their future games.

I'd say, though, for what the game is, the current price (about $25 in my currency) seems a bit too high.

I never write negative reviews or refund games. But this is just unplayable.

I don’t mean “unplayable” as in boring or badly designed. I mean that the terrible, broken interface is making playing this game a struggle. Most of the time I’m unable to see how a class or a job changes my daughter’s stat values, because the stat names don’t fit correctly in the UI and are covering the numbers. That’d be quite ridiculous in any game, but is especially bad in one where balancing the stats is basically the entire gameplay. And that's hardly the only technical issue you'll encounter.

In addition, the translation is bad – it’s barely edited machine translation, it seems. This has been the publisher’s approach to the entire series, and it’s such a pity. These games (and the players) deserve better. (EDIT: Apparently there was a significant update a few days ago and the translation has been edited - hopefully it's better than it used to be! I haven't been able to check, though.)

Even if you love the Princess Maker series, skip this one. It’s really not worth it. I recommend using your money to buy Hanako Games’ Cute Bite instead. Or honestly, literally anything else that at least lets you complete a playthrough without melting into a puddle of frustration.
