The fact that the reviews on this game are "mixed", really does sum up the game itself. What it does well, it does very well. What it doesn't, just kinda leaves you with a "meh" feeling. The absolute worst I could say about the game, is that it does start to feel like killing Nazis is just what unlocks the next cutscene.

In general, the game suffers mostly from what I like to call "Matrix Syndrome" - when you release a work that's so unique, so impressive, and wrapped up so neatly, and then attempt to write a sequel to it. It may still be fun, all the characters you knew and love are back, and the story certainly does continue on, but it's just all so underwhelming.

Yet, I will still recommend it. Because even if it isn't as good as The New Order, it's still not bad. The writing, characters, and acting is still top notch, there's a significant amount of humor to find, and even if the cutscene to gameplay ratio is off, the cutscenes are at least entertaining.

What it is: The original Skyrim packaged with all the DLC, with improved graphics

What has changed:
-Improved lighting
-Improved shadows
-Improved lighting effects (God Rays, et. al)
-Improved post-processing (Depth of field, motion blur, et al.)
-Increased field of view (no more tunnel vision in first person)
-Increased zoom extents (no more dealing with your character taking up 75% of the screen in third person)
-Improved handling of ultra-wide resolutions (i.e. Eyefinity).
-Addition of borderless window option - to avoid the alt tab nightmare of the original.

What has not:
- Everything else (for better or worse)

So, if you already have the GotY edition, or bought all the DLCs, and thus, will get this for free *and* you enjoyed it - then I seriously recommend it.

If you've never played Skyrim before, I recommend picking up a cheap copy of the original first - to see if you like it, before forking over $60 on a better looking version.

If you didn't like the original, then I'm not even sure what you're doing here.

One final note - all those fancy lighting and post processing effects will affect your performance, So don't expect it to perform as well on your ancient artifact of a computer, as the original did.

Do you like Tolkien? Is your favorite thing about an MMO or RPG, the story? Then this is definitely something you'll enjoy. Go ahead, try it out for about 20 levels or so, and if you like it - just go with the VIP plan at $10/month. It was a (relatively) cheap subscription in the early days, and still the best value today.

On the other hand, if you like those features typically found in MMOs - the end game, the PvP, sharp, crisp controlls, min-maxing, and meters - then this isn't the game you're looking for.
