I genuinely don't understand why people like this game. It's like you all forgot that they LIED about what the game was. They promised an RPG with choices that matter, a breathing city, and a story that you could affect. NONE of this is present in the game, now or at launch. Those of you who bought this game and reviewed it positively are too content with what we got vs what we were promised. This game is ridiculously short for what it is, and what it is ain't much. It's a bunch of cutscenes with shooting, driving, and hacking in between. They don't even utilize half of the city in the story and there is a SERIOUS lack of sidequests in this game.

I hope that Witcher 4 is substantially better than this, because this game makes me not want to ever support CDPR ever again. You don't get to FALSELY ADVERTISE your game and not face consequences.

This is one of the greatest RPGs of the modern era. I cannot express how much I appreciate the writing, gameplay interactions, and hard-work that was put into this game. It is clearly a labor of love, which spills into every aspect of it. From extremely memorable characters to unique story twists, this game has something that everyone can enjoy. You are doing yourself a disservice by not playing this game. I cannot stress enough how much of a breath of fresh air this game is in the modern AAA landscape.

This is a fantastic addition to the game. Adds a whole slew of new things to do (and xenos to purge).

Overall Score (6/10): I wish there was a neutral option for ratings, because I'm split on this game. I admire the work that has been put in on the art and gameplay side of things but, the game isn't optimized very well and might be considered too shallow for its price tag. Let me explain: the game world is big enough with lots of treasure and a few small quests to partake in but, the amount of content that is locked behind DLC is atrocious. I get that the developers need to make money (as they are a small team) but it's slightly shady in my eyes.

Gameplay (8/10): This is a game with REALISTIC melee combat; this means that each move you make has to be calculated and you MUST anticipate your opponent's next move. This is the part of the game where most people will stop playing and return the game, but I IMPLORE you to learn the mechanics before acting rashly. The difference between this and other games is that your character WILL improve over time if you play the game enough, making fights much easier later on. Archery in this game is more realistic, with no reticle or aiming apparatus to speak of, making it a learning curve (just as with sword-fighting).

Story (7/10): The story follows Henry, son of the Skallitz blacksmith who, after having survived the pillaging and razing of Skallitz, seeks revenge on the man who killed his father. Throughout the story, clues are revealed about Henry's past that culminate into an epic "gotcha moment" towards the end of the story. The story is told through the context of living in the Holy Roman Empire, making it historically interesting to the average player.

Graphics (8/10): This game is gorgeous, with rolling hills of green and lush forests covered in darkness. Many hamlets and a few cities to explore as well. Character models are expertly crafted and lip-syncing is done well. A few visual bugs here and there, but overall pretty solid.

Bugs/Glitches/Reliability (5/10): There are several bugs in this game, some cosmetic, others more game-breaking. Sometimes, quests won't trigger after dialogue ends, and the way that NPCs respond to stimuli doesn't always match up with the tone of the stimuli (i.e people screaming because you rode your horse into the city) The movement system and stealth systems are incredibly buggy as well. I can't tell you how many times I got on my horse and immediately fell through the map, or how many times I should've been detected while sneaking and was not caught (I snuck right in front of an enemy in broad daylight and he couldn't see me). This game has incredibly long loading times and is NOT OPTIMIZED very well. With my current setup (1080 ti, i7-7700k at 4.5 ghz, 32 gbs RAM, 2 tb SSD), the game runs at an UNSTEADY 60-90 FPS with large amounts of stuttering and freezing throughout. I believe this game has memory leakage problems as well, as after a couple of hours of playing, the game will either freeze or start to lose performance rapidly.

DLCs (3/10): The DLC for this game is atrocious, both in content, and in volume. The prices on said DLC are less than ideal, considering the amount of content they add to the game. One involves Henry rebuilding Skallitz, but there is little choice given to the player in terms of how they want to rebuild. Another, "A Woman's Lot" follows Theresa, a love interest of Henry's, on a couple of side quests which do not offer anything new to the game besides the quests. There are also a number of treasure DLCs which are simply not worth your time.

Holy crap dude. Where to begin? One of the best indie games in terms of replayability, with new items aplenty. Difficult, but not impossible. Game doesn't take itself seriously, which is incredibly fun, especially in this rogue-like setting. Amazing game.

An excellent experience. Truly terrifying while capturing the feel and tone of Ridley Scott's classic film. Constant anxiety mixed with an looming feeling of dread. Easily one of the best games of its year.
