Works both as a great puzzle rpg and a mysterious visual novel, and both sides of it mech together seamlessly. It's also weirdly good at explaining mechanics to you and what to do next, to the point where I was honestly disappointed it wasn't more confusing (this is just my taste in games, haha). Big recommend.

Appears to be a joke game at first (it's a really good joke) and then peels back all the layers to show that it's not just a "real game" but a deeply engaging one. Very few games do this trick so well, owns.

Petal Crash! 2!

The original was already on the ranking of the best action puzzle games of all time, and the small mechanical and effect adjustments in this one are all improvements so YES PLAY PUZZLE CRASH!

Legitimately cool little time waster. Does actually teach you how probability feels. Puts a little bit of theme there but doesn't get in a way. Doesn't have an actual strategy to it but it's better off this way.

Petal Crash feels like a classic game, not just in the sense of the retro styling but in the fact that the gameplay is so clean it feels like someone should have designed something like this years ago. You slide blocks around in a classic ice sokobon way, trying to then combo that into other blocks. You're making your own puzzles and your own problems, under clever competitive pressure.

As a bonus, the AI in this game has a fun bit of variance between characters, and the story mode has seriously fun writing that's perfect for this type of mode. It also features basically every kind of mode you'd want for this kind of game, including a well thought out puzzle mode.

It might be tuned a little bit more towards the hardcore? But this is also a game with an extremely high skill ceiling so that kind of makes sense, and if you're not a puzzle pro there's still a lot to do. Highly recommended.

A must own if you like Panel de Pon/ Tetris Attack. The vs. mode balancing, variety, and pacing are top notch. Music is great (more hype than the subtitle makes it sound like haha). There was a real focus on making it work for newcomers which is great, but all the sickos stuff is also there.

Note: there's some bugs on my PC with the current build, which made a few elements of the game not feel right. I grabbed the beta and that fixed all of it. You can do this by right clicking the game in your library, selecting properties > betas > beta participation and selecting the beta from the drop down.
