I enjoyed my 5 days demo in Starsand Island so far. Farming, husbandry, crafting, fishing are straightforward. Fun music and cute design? Awesome. Using vehicles to get around town instead of running around like a madman? Building presets in addition to building my house the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ way? Hell yeah.

I'm biased to anime aesthetics so this could be an easy recommendation from me but NOT with the game's current state. Few of my complaints are:

- Give the villagers more diversity. Take Graminova, Aurelis, Loren, and Solana for example. They look like lost twins because they share the same pale skin and blond hair. And they look like they're on the same age!
- The women have different, noticeable personalities and characteristics than men, so maybe balance that please?
- Did u guys remove Delphin's tan in the game???????? Why make him tan in his promotional images when you end up whitewashing him?
- Optimise the game, please please PLEASE!!! The world loads way too long, it might be because I don't have the ability to change the graphic settings.
- I play primarily on Steam Deck. While it says the game's compatibility is unknown, it runs okay. But again, the game needs serious optimisation because I get around 18-40fps. Not cool.
- The quest can be a little too overwhelming. I just talked to Delphin to get my fishing certification and then he just gave me more quests AND said something sounding like it's been a while since he saw me when I'm... right there standing in front of him???? Give the quests some cooldown time. Make them send a letter the day after, saying something like 'congrats on ur fishing certification! Now come meet me at the pier. I have something for your first fishing assignment.'
- I'm a bit hopeful that the full release of the island won't have this much of tourists. I'd rather have a small town filled with villagers I'd LOVE getting to know than see the island slowly getting gentrified lol.
- If u guys plan to make tourists to give side quests, make them slightly different from the generic ones.
- I just hope u guys dont mean 'AI' when u put a disclaimer saying there's a machine translation in the game.

Please don't take this thumbs down review as an insult. I still believe the full release will be better than this and I'm looking forward to it. With the demo period ending soon, I hope u guys can take the players' complaints into consideration and work to deliver the game the way you advertise it :) Cheers

OKAY FINE I'M NOT GONNA BEAT AROUND THE BUSH ANYMORE. I've spent more than 150 hours in this game and I sadly have to give this a thumbs down.

I love how the characters are drawn which is probably the first reason why I bought Coral Island. They're gorgeous to look at, both humans and merfolks. It's a shame the 3Dness of the game doesn't do them justice. U can never make me love the 3D model of Surya because he looks super grey!

Props to them for doing a good job with striving for inclusivity and diversity while keeping the Indonesian representation on point. I'm actually impressed.

Heart system and relationship cutscenes exist but uh... don't expect anything good. It's... okayish. They did their best at least. Also why do I have to work my way up to 8 hearts just to date Surya? Don't u think it's a little too long?? Though the good thing is they have a thing in the game that tells u where and when u can trigger these cutscenes. Very convenient for my forgetful ass.

I truly despise the errand system. The time window it gives u is nuts, ranging from only TWO days to 11 days. Connor asking for 5 bananas WITHIN TWO DAYS??????? Yeah nah I'm not gonna do that errand. I'm on year 3 and I swear I do less than 20 errands. It's just not worth the time and effort, and by the time ur farm flourishes, I don't think the quest board even matters. Same goes to bounties issued by a local adventurer's guild.

Combat is ass. Some enemies can still hit u even when u dodge. I feel like they don't really enforce u to be well-quipped in the caves except for having a high damage weapon. Then again, this game tells u to live at ur own pace so not all people enjoy slaying monsters when finding a way to go deeper is already a challenge in itself. Monster loot is worthless by the way. I hardly ever keep them in my inventory :/

Underwater content, despite being the game's selling point, is unfortunately left unfinished and half-baked. There's not much accomplishments u can earn there. Imagine being given underwhelming rewards after singlehandedly completing the underwater offerings, or completing that one heinous quest where u have to ship 1000 underwater crops (which btw u have to get the seeds from mixing ur land crops with specific clams/shells) just for the game to give u a tail and 25k coins??? I CAN EARN 50k FROM SELLING MY CROPS ON THE LAND ALONE! Like... it's just there to keep u busy.

I thought people were saying nonsense when they mentioned the game crashing until a few days ago when I lost progress on the critters I was collecting for the museum. All that started to happen after I reach year 3. If I experienced this sooner, I would've refunded the game.

Despite the negative review, don't let this stupid ass review of mine prevent u from playing the game! I enjoy being a villager who farms and clears the ocean out of plastics as a mermaid then comes home to their marine biologist spouse greeting u with "Watching you work on the farm is something else, babe. You add a whole new level of sexy to farming."

I'd like to call Cornucopia a farming sim game but with cheats on, not in a bad way. Here's why:

+ The game doesn't force u to sleep.
+ No need to craft chests. Ur farm inventory is already built into one storage that u can upgrade. Even better, u can send items from ur bag to ur farm without going back home (this only applies when u have a stack of said item).
+ U can turn ur farm animals into helpers. They can assist u in doing chores or can be ur transport.
+ U can plant crops outside of its ideal season outside the greenhouse. There's probably some sort of penalty to it but doing so is not completely barred off (at least from what I've been doing so far).

Some cool features I haven't seen in other similar games:

+ Scratch cards and card packs. There are scratch cards to unlock recipes and to get items, and there are also card packs that will grant u quests, location warps, and buffs. It's very addictive.
+ A unique approach on fishing mechanism
+ An auction house where u can auction off ur items or participate in one. For me, it helps on getting a new farm animal.
+ Turning urself into an actual farmer by paying attention to the soil and fertilisers u use. The game tells u the ideal environment for ur crops (soil type, NPK ratings, preferred season) so u don't need to do trial and error.

Other things I enjoy in this game are:

+ The many dateable options. There are people u can date with various ages.
+ An in-game arcade, especially that one minigame where u push coins. That one's my favourite.
+ 2.5D perspective.

While I do enjoy playing this game, there are some things bothering me:

- I know Steam says Cornucopia is Steam Deck verified but my experience says otherwise. I can't click on some buttons because the game texts block them. I still need to press the screen just because navigating the hotbar takes too long. Item description sometimes clips through the screen too. Even moving the pointer with the analogue stick causes lag.
- Controls are a mess and I haven't seen a way to remap this.
- (In my experience) There's a chance for the game to softlock itself when u rapidly click on villager dialogues
- Many people to date, less people I want to talk with. The conversations are somewhat shallow and don't really give much impression. I feel like there's no need to even talk to anyone if not because of quests and the urge to romance someone
- All is fun until u start dating people. I've only dated and married one NPC in my one and only save file but once u start dating them (in my case Eugene), he says generic stuffs like "We're so cute together" "We're meant to be together" and so on. It was awful that I stopped interacting with him once I've maxed my bond with him.
- I know u can't always make the map flat and I like that there's high level terrain to navigate in the world, but especially in the wizard tower area, it's very confusing! When I first started, I kept not knowing where to go and ended up drowning (I didn't even know there was a slope where I could walk on to get to the surface!!)
- Maybe it's just my dumb brain, but I struggle a lot on cooking. I like the interactive part where u have to touch on the knob to actually turn it on but it's not well explained. Like, do I have to merge each ingredients or do I have to leave it? Sometimes merging them causes the items to fall out of the pan/pot and it's somewhat infuriating.
- I wish with the many items u could gather and mine came more usage. It's just sad to see so many stones types only turn into one type of brick and nothing else. I'd love to see these stones used more in crafting. Perhaps something like decoration/furniture style, each stone will give different furniture colour? Now I'm hoping I can craft decoration/furniture myself than buying from shops.
- I came here expecting character customisation, but, oh well :( the hats will do.

I love this game, I've initially recommended it to some offline friends before playing it long enough. Despite the negative review, I'll give Cornucopia a chance again after a few updates or adjustments. I'll be back for Eugene <3

[Updated review - 2/3/2026]

After spending 120 more hours, I'm enjoying Fields of Mistria! The lost and found box in the newest update is really helpful to fetch things I neglected and forgot. What a livesaver.

They finally added day time speed in settings, letting you pick between normal, longer, or longest, and they gave warning that the NPC schedules were carefully crafted for standard day time speed before you get to choose. I personally don't see any issue with this and my gameplay so far has been enjoyable.

The part where I complained about the map being big was a result of wanting to do everything at once while also racing against time. Now that I'm able to adjust the time, I can spend the remainder of my days mining. Unfortunately, I'll have to accept the fact that I can't do everything in one day lol. Not until late game at least.

I noticed decorating my house and farm no longer uses stamina, though if my stamina reaches zero, you won't be able to pick up decorations with your pickaxe.

For now, my current concern is the struggle to level up relationship with other villagers. Not sure why fulfilling requests doesn't improve relationships, which is a shame cause I've completed plenty and done upgrades in the village which, theoretically, would make villagers happier.

It's a shame that I can't use most fish for cooking. I would love to turn them into dishes so I can get more money.

Coming back initially to resume the mines quest line, I decided to restart and the game got me hooked again. Can't wait for the game's full release!

[Original review - 24/12/2024]

Can't recommend it for the time being.

The day cycle in this game is faster than other farming sim games. And if you're like me who does things on a whim and often changes mind, good luck finishing even basic tasks like watering and taking care of your livestock!

So let's say you just finished cooking consumables to eat in the mines and it's already evening. You walk to the mines, pass through the town or your neighbour farm, and you've already spent an hour walking. You then think to yourself, "I don't have time to even start mining at this point," so you walk back home and mine tomorrow instead. Well, good luck spending two hours walking and pray that you won't pass out on your way home!

Wanna take a break from the grind and decorate your farm? Too bad! You have to use a pickaxe to pick up furnitures which btw uses stamina. And when you're done placing your flower pots, benches, and tables, you realise it's already noon anyway.

Look. I want to like this game, I really do. I enjoy the villager requests not being time-limited so I can do them all in my own pace. I love that this game offers a lot of character customisation options. The simple retro design is easy for my eyes. I like the game allowing jump and swim so there's always a way to cut travel time by a few in-game minutes. For me though, the fast day cycle is overwhelming and I'd like to revisit this game when the devs make readjustments.

+ A different style of co-op experience. The game is displayed in split screen, no matter if you're playing it online or offline. This also applies on remote play.
+ Cinematic transition of the scenes gives you feel as if you're watching a movie.
+ Engaging emotional story! You can expect a relationship of two strangers--working with each other for one cause--that progresses to a you-are-my-brother type of relationship. it was that close. THAT. CLOSE.
+ Two outcomes/endings.

- It's short, you can play this in one seating for approximately 7 hours.
- Since it's short, it's better to buy it on sale.

Thing(s) to consider before you buy: Requires Origin.
