"Out of all the places you could live, you chose Pelican Town?"

I've played Stardew Valley on nearly every platform it's been published on. Switch, PS4, you name it. I have countless hours in this game and I still love it as deeply as I did when I first picked it up in 2017. And for the $15 price tag, I've gotten hours upon hours from the standard content, let alone patch content that has been added all for free--in my opinion, the content that has been added post 1.0 could be paid DLC and I wouldn't bat an eye, but it's all free. For $15, you're getting hours upon hours of content and, to me, the enjoyment I've gotten from this game has far surpassed $15.

There's something in this game for everyone.
Do you like farming sims? Fishing mini-games?
What about casual dungeon crawling mechanics? Or even harder dungeon crawling challenges?
Relationship aspects and wonderful characters, flaws and all?
Min-maxxing, challenge runs, or just a casual experience of decorating your perfect farm and taking care of animals?

I've done nearly everything in this game across every platform I've played it on--married all of the candidates, been in the mines for hundreds of hours, farmed for hundreds of hours more... and I keep coming back. Multiplayer and single-player playthroughs, too.

ConcernedApe is a gem who actually listens to his players and is constantly updating this years-old game, even though it is perfection without any of the updates. Stardew Valley is really a labor of love and the penultimate love letter to farming sim games. I grew up playing all of the games adjacent to Stardew Valley (think Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing, Story of Seasons, etc.) and he has not only put everything positive about these unique titles into one game, but added his own twist and improved upon these masterpieces.

No matter how I'm feeling, I can always return to Stardew Valley. This game and its characters have made me cry from joy, happiness, and none of those feelings have dulled no matter how many farms I've created and played through.

So, yes, Sebastian, out of all of the places I could live, I would choose Pelican Town over anywhere. Always. ♡

If you enjoyed VA-11 Hall-A you will most definitely enjoy this. Similar vibe, yet more fantasy-leaning in terms of world building.

RIP Fahmi, I'm very grateful I got to escape the real world and retreat into your fantasy coffee shop for a few hours.
