Early Access Review
- Characters have the depth of a puddle;
- dialogues are generic and predictable;
- Karlach is pure cringe.

DOS2 wasn't ideal in that regard either but at least you could speed-read the dialogues without being forced to watch awkward facial animations which quite often don't even fit the context.

The gameplay and atmosphere are nice, though.

Unlike most other story-driven games which usually even at best are just slightly better than some generic fantasy or detective novels, Disco Elysium is one of the very few games that can actually be compared to proper books. And from those few it is certainly the best as of today, especially in terms of dialogues. Disco Elysium is not ideal, of course, the game has it flaws, but at least these are the *grown-up* flaws.

Heretic + Quake. If you like old school shooters and feel that Doom 2016 failed you then this game was made for you. Some enemies could've been a bit more interesting both in terms of mechanics and in terms of visuals but level design and weapons are superb.

To this day there are no other games that you can compare this to - Pathologic truly is one of a kind and that's not an exaggeration. A couple of hours in this feels like a great remake: everything people loved about the original is there but also a lot of things were added to make the game more interesting both in terms of narrative and atmosphere and in terms of gameplay.

That all being said I would strongly suggest to wait a bit more, until the following problems are resolved:
- at the moment there is only one playable character (Haruspex) out of three; they've said that Bachelor will be added next and he is the best character for the first playthrough both in terms of difficulty and story;
- serious performance issues (especially considering that the game doesn't have AAA graphics);
- can't rebind the controls.

This game is actually still one of the top shooters to date if you can get past the poor graphics (play it windowed ot with mods) and unconventional controls. I don't mind cutscenes and maybe sometimes even longer times between the fights if there is some good story, but modern shooters, even the likes of Shadow Warrior (2013) or Doom (2016), are simply not fast enough.
