Early Access Review
In terms of visuals POE 2 is one of the best looking games out there right now

This is not a perfect game. The mechanics get fairly repetitive and playing in a headset for a long time can hurt yo brain and better hardware will simply improve your experience (I did play on an index). But in spite of these small issues, I would say that this is the best digital entertainment experience I've ever had.

As a sequel prequel to Half-life 2, this exceeded my expectations and you know that's saying something.

Controversies aside, an (almost) all around improvement to the 2016 version. Fantastic game, a unique and innovative addition to the FPS genre. Definitely get it if you like FPS! I think the high pricetag is more for die hard fans, so maybe get it on sale to avoid any dissatisfaction (I happily bought full price)

With gameplay and visuals in place, my one gripe is with the story, too much ego stroking! I want to feel like a badass I don't want to be told I'm a badass all the time. It's like yeah okay I get it I'm amazing get off my ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Doomguy ain't no dude who's into flattery in my eyes. Some of the lore was a bit over the top for me, took itself too seriously. The characters are much more fun when named CYBERDEMON and Baron of HELL, rather than Ra'al'blah.

Fantastic game nonetheless, in the top 10 of the decade for me, perhaps top 5

Controversies not aside, the developers are open and honest about the mistakes and issues behind the scenes and made the needed changes to improve/fix them. This is a rarity with many game devs so I want to show some support for that. Water under the bridge.

Edit: Still having these problems after reinstalling the game months later. Edit: years and now I have a 3080 so something is up

I can only speak for the minority having this issue but for some reason there are some people with mid-high end PC's getting 30 fps and lower. It's also a real chuggy fps so for me I consider it an uncomfortable experience not worth playing. Therefore I cannot recommend it until they supply a fix. I will change my review when it is fixed :)

This survival game stands out strong against the rest of the indie survival games the store seems to be oversaturated with. Unlike most of those games this one kept me captivated and I ended up having a wonderfully unique experience.

I am now far more scared of the ocean.

Bottom line is I do reccommend it but there are bugs that really need to be addressed so I'm going to give it a negetive review untill they are.

There are serious problems with how they deal with clientside and serverside data, a (very) common problem is on an ice map for example. One player shoots down all the ice on the map and should expect all players to fall to their death but, on other players screen it might be different and the ice looks intact. This leads some players to fall and others not to. This completely ruins the competitivity of the game. I doubt it is the hardest thing in the world to fix either hence the negetive review.

Other than this specific but very tedious issue the game is actually very fun and even with it... yeah probably grab it, it's so much fun but I'm stubborn so. plz fx

Unless you know this is a game for you, I suggest you shy away from jumping for your wallet. If you know what this game is and it sounds good to you, buy it. To me, it is a small masterpeice.

This is a click and pray game with no real progression in difficulty, winning is not satisfying and loosing is tedious. The achievements are the only reason you should have for buying it. (not that they are really actual "achievements")

Reviews I saw prior to playing this had me expecting a challenging and fun gorefest that is not only comparitable but a competitor to the most recent DOOM installment. Unfortunatley this mindset left me dissapointed.

Pros:
- Gore is really cool, some of the best you will see with any games out there but not the best ever.
- Skippable cutscenes: I would not want to have to live through the jokes and acting that is almost cringeworthy at times.
- Movement: Very fast and allows you to pull off some fun combos with your weapons while soaring through the air.
- Soundtrack: Decent.
- Monsters: Don't feel spongey when playing at an appropriate difficulty level which really helps the gameplay. The monsters are also fairly well designed and can be interesting to play against.
- Threats: Most if not all attacks from enemys are avoidable or dodgeable which is always good in a game like this.
- Graphics: Decent most of the time and some things look great. Sometimes it can be hard to spot things compared to the background but at the end of the day the graphics do the job.

Cons:
- Difficulty: I played on the hardest difficulty and got quickly bored, enemys felt spongey and the guns felt like peashooters, not only that but it wasn't all that challenging to me. I turned down the difficulty so I could mow through enemys but after that the challenge no longer existed and playing felt fruitless.
- Variety: I am starting to get sick of games that don't filter their content. I just want to play the game and get knees deep in it without worrying about equipting tiny meaningless boosts on my bundle of half useless weapons. Some people do enjoy this in games such as borderlands but in SW2 the upgrades and weapon changes just feels too little to take any interest in, therefore managing them feels like a chore.
- Humor: ♥♥♥♥'nfart joke humor which is resonates usually with younger audiences. cringeworthy some of the time but you could find a couple of laughs in there.

At the end of the day, if you pick up this game you will probably have some fun and the price is not crazy high. I am writting this to try and give you a different perspective than some of the positive reviews give. This game is no DOOM, but it is a good laugh and entertaining experience. The only reason I cannot reccomend it is I personally did not enjoy it and for people who dislike borderlands for the crazy loot, they will probably not enjoy it so much either. But for what it is I will still give it a 7/10 while not reccomending it to a selection of people.

(Recieved from humble bundle)

The UI is a bother for one, some of the UI gets in the way of important things in the bunker and is tedious as well as annoying.

The RNG is also way too much of a playing element of this game to even call it a strategy game. The balance is just way off and from my experience, vital items are unreasonably rare. Another ridiculous aspect is you can't leave to look for water without water (not that I would ever find any water) all you can do is wait for it to rain and sometimes that just doesn't happen.

There is still potential though. Some of the progression seems compelling and the concept is interesting, it just doesn't work right now and I cannot reccommend it at all. This game will make you mad.

This game is not complete trash but it's worth a skip, from my experience it was just tedious and underiterated. The potential keeps this game on its feet and I hope to give it another try if the developers improve the fixable but severely damaged gameplay sheltered has to offer.

4/10
