Update: Thanks for the new patch.

I've loved this game for years because I can invest 20-40 hours into a character and fully develop the build, to my satisfaction anyways, all while being offline, wasd, and single player. But this latest patch has forced me to leave this review.

There's a game breaking bug in the endgame monolith system where the portal to complete the monolith does not function, trapping you in the map unless you quit the game. But if you quit, the reward is forfeit.

The worst part about this bug is how easily detectable it should have been if the patched had been tested properly. Seriously, it's an offline client, you don't have to worry about netcode or integrating other features that can cause issues. It would take a dev playtesting 5 minutes to realize their ENTIRE endgame system does not function. To make matters worse, There are reports of this game breaking bug from over a week ago. Where is the fix??

This causes me to believe the game is defunct and development has lost all enthusiasm. I hope they fix this bug and prove me wrong. I'd love nothing more than to change this review to a positive one and finish developing my meteor build.

Zero microtransactions, just great gameplay and balanced randomness. Easy to get play, hard to master. What else could you want? This game is a major sleeper and a steal at it's price point.

Early Access Review
The game just isn't that interesting. Combos are not as dynamic as the first game, some normal encounters feel clunky and overtuned while certain elites die in two rounds. I recommend staying away from this one until the full launch.

While this is a fun tactics game with additional mechanics and a unique art style and definitely worth your time, there is one thing that pisses me off.

If life gets in the way in the middle of a boss fight and you have to quit the game, when you come back an npc will give you grief for quitting out. As if it's my fault you lazy developers didn't put a pause function in the game. Plenty of other tactics games will let you boot up the game and resume mid-fight.

But this got me thinking, so what? What if some dude wanted to reset a boss fight because things didn't go his way. He paid for the game just like I did so I'm not a fan of being reprimanded by something I paid for. Plus, some of these boss fights can be long! Fenrir drops traps and runs away every turn, if you get bad RNG with a melee comp, that can be upwards of a 10 minute fight.

Good game though, highly recommend, but this is America and I can quit whenever the hell I want.

Core gameplay loop gets repetitive too quickly and I cannot recommend for $25.
