they've done it again! super nice presentation that ports everything from vampire survivors in a familiar, yet entirely different context, for a super tight game. it's got amazing music and sound effects, also just like the original, but i have to admit, it is really the perfect game to play while listening to other music/content.

it's not nearly as in-depth as something like slay the spire, but considering that it's a vampire survivor game, the absurd scaling makes a ton of sense. I may have just not unlocked it yet, but I do wish there was more scaling after completing a world, so I could test builds against particularly high health enemies. hoping for more DLC soon!

Ok, this might be the closest I have ever come to having a pure crisis of faith in the gaming sphere. I do not know how it is possible, but 2K has decided that every person that enjoys something they can even vaguely qualify as sports has way more money and time on their hands than they deserve.

Before I even say anything about why the monetization is so bad, it almost pisses me off WORSE that this is by far the most fun I've had playing a 2K branded WWE game since 14. They added back gamemodes (that shouldn't have been removed, but I digress), the weapon/ragdoll physics engine is just janky enough to be funny but impactful enough to look/sound painful, there are a lot of old-school PLE arenas that I miss from watching 90s/2000s WWE, some relatively interesting roster additions, and like usual, even if I don't always agree with 2K's music taste, they will always pick some crazy banger I have never heard and I appreciate that.

But holy ♥♥♥♥, the monetization of this game is INSANE! Remember those cool 90s/2000s arenas? Remember those at least somewhat interesting roster additions? Yeah well, those are now locked behind a season pass, that is one of the single most frustrating battle-pass implementations I have ever seen. I would still hate it, but they can't like.... I don't know, HAVE DAILY AND WEEKLY CHALLENGES FOR BATTLE-PASS XP???? LIKE EVERY OTHER BATTLE-PASS IN THE HISTORY OF GAMING????

And of course, you may be thinking, well that just sounds like additions! If they are just cool arenas or newish wrestlers, I could live without that and unlock them like usual! Nah bro. Bret Hart is locked till level 7, Booker T till level 11, you can't have the Olympic gold-medal wearing, ass-kicking Kurt Angle until level 13. That's already bad enough, but you mean to look me dead in the eyes given to me by whoever made me and tell me I cannot play as THE Macho Man Randy MF Savage until level 25 of your arbitrary battle-pass system? I can't use the RAW 2002 arena to rematch one of the greatest ladder-matches of all time (Undertaker vs. Jeff Hardy, they used to give us these matches on TV folks) until LEVEL ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 37????

I don't even want to say anything about MyFaction. Ok, you're still reading? Fine, I will. Somehow, for reasons yet to be understood by man, they have made MyFaction less rewarding at the start. Now, it's always been stingy with packs and rare cards, etc. but now they've made the baffling decision to cap the majority of the highest dropping cards at like 75 OVR, so even if you do the ungodly grind, at best you are getting a card that is 10 OVR worse than the single card they give you for free that you can level up. I don't get it. If they wanted gambling addicts, you can't scare a dude out of the casino on the first roll!

All this is to say, if you find a way to play this game, and spend as little money as possible, you will probably be happy. It is actually fun to play, when you get to. RIP Pepsi Phil, you got two 2K covers but Roman Reigns is about to smoke your ass at WM42. That is all.

$40 dollar game with the monetization strategy of a F2P gacha game. I really like playing it to be honest, but ♥♥♥♥ off devs, you can't fix your game's collision, balance, or hitboxes, but you can add a $100 premium currency bundle so people can spend more on content that should be included in the base game?

Plus, it recently came out that a large portion of this content is made by 3rd party studios, that y'all are turning around at $10 bucks a pop, without really giving those studios credit. This game just feels like Starbreeze with PAYDAY 2 all over again, greedy devs act like the playerbase is the problem while ruining their own games.

I really enjoyed this one! If you've played any 3rd person action combat games, you've played this one (GoW series, Batman games, Uncharted), but this does take a great spin on it using Spiderman's abilities and gadgets. The story isn't really anything unbelievable, but it feels like playing through a Marvel movie, so it's at least competently written. It does suffer from a few pacing issues towards the end, and the combat can get repetitive, but I still thoroughly enjoyed my time playing it!

This is yet another game I wish there was a middle option for, but I am going to hit recommend, since I have to be honest, and say I have enjoyed playing so far. I still think it holds no candle to some older wrestling games, especially the SvR series, but this one is probably the most enjoyable vanilla 2K series wrestling game I have played. This is mostly because they finally decided to allow intergender matches again, expand match types somewhat, and add back a few mechanics, albeit half baked.

That being said, it still suffers from pretty much all the usual 2K pitfalls. While I haven't run into any crashing or stability issues, it would be bad faith to ignore the amount of people that have complained about that particular issue. On the technical side, there really isn't any excuse for this game to be max locked at 60 fps, and come with a default 30 fps setting. The removal of the Island gamemode for PC was already bad enough, but I'd imagine most people's hardware could handle this game, if it was optimized. Equally, MyFaction is just the single worst faith gamemode of all time. I honestly like the idea of building up a collection of wrestlers from WWE's history and competing with them, but the price of packs is insane, and the progression without paying is painfully slow.

With all that said, I do enjoy playing, but don't go into this expecting anything revolutionary.

Alan Wake's American Nightmare would not be a game I would recommend to anyone who hadn't already played Alan Wake and enjoyed it. If you played through the entirety of the first game, and want to know more about the story, American Nightmare still continues the core themes and alternative narrative structure. The cutscenes are quite fun, and Mr. Scratch is a great villain.

The gameplay does have a few improvements, but also quite a number of things that feel over simplified compared to the first outing. The arcade mode is appreciated, but not very fleshed out. It's also insanely repetitive and wildly shorter than the first. If you are already going through the Remedy shared universe, do play this for more context for Control's DLCs and Alan Wake 2.

This game is the start to an extremely wild story, spanning several other games, and a whole lot of wild moments. It also helps that the core gameplay is fun, albeit a tad bit repetitive. It definitely feels like an Xbox 360 era third person shooter, but mouse and keyboard controls improve the responsiveness by a whole lot.

The cutscenes don't look great resolution wise, but the dialogue and pacing reminds me a lot of Twin Peaks. With all that said, it is a fun ride that I believe is worth seeing through to the end. If you're willing to stick with it until then, and you want to see more of the story, make sure to click on 'Episodes' in the main menu, and play Special Episode 1 & 2. They set up Alan Wake's American Nightmare and the eventual continuation of the shared universe

It's not a lake. It's an ocean.

I really, really want to say you should give Payday 2 a shot. I think it's a great game, with many incredibly fun gameplay moments. However, it may have some of the worst online play I've ever seen in a modern release. The matchmaking was recently gutted in an update, which allowed Epic Games players in to Steam lobbies. Cool and all, but it completely broke functionality.

Equally, unlike a lot of online co-op games, the ENTIRE heist is instanced to the host's computer. Host crashes? You're out however many minutes you put into the heist. They have to leave, have network issues, or just flat out ragequit? Same deal. There's no swapping hosts, which has resulted in many a lost score and XP for me. Really hope they address multiplayer in PD3, since they have a great core game on their hands.
