Between steam and mobile I think I've put in like 500 hours in less than half a year and I'm pretty sure that gives me the right to eat the walls of Cygames offices

This is like if all the good things from my other favorite games were mashed together into one really amazing game and it is genuinely so unfair to me because video games should not be allowed to be this good

The second half of the Golden Tale of the terrible tragedy of Rokkenjima is beyond fantastic. Rounding out a reading experience of 135 or so hours and yet every second of it is so engrossing I wasn't able to drop it for even a week within the last two months.

Despite being called the "answer arcs" nothing in this story is handed out for free. It respects the reader's intelligence, and expects the reader to use the given clues to find the truth on their own, to form a truth from the connections that the reader makes with this world and it's characters.

Umineko is many things. The answer arcs dive far deeper into the fantasy side of it's world than the question arcs. With new characters heralding from various places across a great sea of small worlds known simply as fragments. It's scope continues to expand until it reaches the only logical conclusion, a challenge directed at us, the readers. Umineko always had some level of comparison to the relationship between reader and writer but the answer arcs give it a literal personification.

In short this is a story that completes the themes of the previous tale and introduces many new ones. Ultimately it asks of us the same thing the first half did. To understand the people around us, and form a view of the world where we can know what lies in the depths of our hearts. To form a truth using the love that cannot be seen.

I loved every single moment of this story. And if you're reading this than I really hope with all my heart that you are capable of indulging in it too. It's beyond incredible. It does so much with so little, of course 135+ hours is a lot but even then it is truly magical what manages to be packed into a visual novel with almost no player choices.

My journey with this series is done for now. But the next step in it's lineage has only just begun. So of course I'll probably end up writing a long review for Ciconia once it's finished.

We'll meet again, When something else cries.
