When this game originally launched as "SPLITGATE 2", I was a bit disheartened. It was not what I was hoping for in a sequel: more e-sports focused, classes, loadouts, etc. What made SPLITGATE special to me was the arena style gameplay where everybody was on an even playing field. SPLITGATE 2 had simpler maps, less portal walls, less verticality, etc. I played a few hours and unfortunately just did not have fun, but I saw so much potential underneath all of the trend chasing clutter. The bones felt GOOD. I submitted some feedback to the devs like many others did, and went on my way.

I have to say I was genuinely surprised to learn that they had un-launched the game and were gearing for a re-launch. FInally getting to play it, I am so pleased to say that my expectations have been met and exceeded. They addressed EVERY single point of feedback that I had, and made the best feeling arena shooter I have ever played. THIS ROCKS. IT IS SO GOOD NOW. PLEASE GIVE IT ANOTHER SHOT, IT IS EXCELLENT. The gunplay is incredible, the movement feels great, the portal walls are abundant, the maps are vertical (and gorgeous!!). This is the first time in as long as I can remember where a studio has actually re-evaluated the direction of their game and shifted its course for the better in a meaningful way. hell yes

As someone that was fairly underwhelmed with Sonic Frontiers, I am so pleased to say that Shadow Generations might be one of, if not, the best 3D sonic games of all time. They really did it... they nailed it. It's not without its issues (second half feels a bit less polished than the first half, including even the music), and I think they could have done better to make the story more cohesive and satisfying, but WOW. The sauce is back.

Rarely am I enamored with a game enough to feel compelled to leave a review on Steam. This game... it's wild. The gameplay, the visuals, the SOUND DESIGN. Incredible.

Early Access Review
Phenomenal game. It's extremely fun and the VR support is mind blowing. It's very fast and has a decently high skill ceiling while still being enjoyable if you don't want to try too hard. Beautiful aesthetic with both the visuals, sound and music as well.

This game is ABSOLUTELY INSANE. I haven't played a more fun game in a long time. Just look up any gameplay video and you'll see how great this looks. You can get some really intense matches, and the skill ceiling goes really high. You can feel like a total bad ass with some of the moves you'll end up pulling off. 10/10

I seriously didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did. I knew it would be good, but not THIS good. Everything is top-notch quality (except maybe the voice acting, but that's still not bad at all). The visuals are gorgeous, the writing is fantastic, the classic Portal 2 style humor is still there (sometimes, some jokes fall a little short), and the gameplay is brutally difficult.

When I first started, I got stuck in the first chamber for a good 15 minutes before giving up. I closed the game and almost lost interest completely because I'm terrible at puzzle games. Fortunately, I decided to give it one more shot and finally figured it out after another 10 minutes. I did okay for the next few chambers until I got stuck again and ended up finding a walkthrough. I hate to admit using one, but I truly couldn't figure out some solutions (which I blame myself for being terrible at puzzle games for, not the game itself). For the most part, I only needed the walkthrough to get through a single part of a chamber which would lead me to find the full solution on my own, so I didn't need to rely on it too many times.

At the very end, when you see the final cinematic, it dawned upon me just how large scale of a project this really was. Four years of development, and it was well spent. One of the best Valve game mods I have ever played.

Fantastic game so far! Galaxy Squadron gets extremely intense at times, and is very challenging right from the beginning. The amount of JUICE in this game in incredible. The way the screen shakes when destroying an enemy, the responsive controlls and the satisfying sound effects all combine into a big ball of enjoyable, satisfying, shmuppy goodness.

I'd say if you enjoy games like Jamestown, Raiden, or Crimzon Clover (just to name a few off the top of my head) you will really enjoy this.

One suggestion I'd like to see implimented however is a 9:16 mode for vertical monitor play. I didn't see an option for it at least.
