As someone who loves watching Resident Evil speedruns this was a great introduction to Resident Evil 2. The game stays faithful to the things I've watched in numerous speedruns while changing things up to make it a unique experience.

While it's very reminiscent of how Resident Evil 7 works it actually builds upon that and makes Racoon City PD a very vivid place to be. As someone who loves an atmospheric game this ticked all the right boxes and the tension built further when faced with the challenge of facing a Licker or Mr X.

A big difference of course is that Resident Evil 2 remake is a 3rd person game. You could claim that this could detract from the gameplay somewhat. Using the camera controls to peek around corners removing some of the tension. If the game had been in first person I feel like this could have provided a much more immersive experience and truly added to the horror. I feel hardcore fans of the series may be a little sad as they've ditched fixed camera points and tank controls but the fluidity of movement just makes it much more fun to play.

Overall a pretty enjoyable game and one that actually lived up to the hype and the massive marketing campaign that Capcom funded. I highly recommend it.

If you like FPS and are interested in the Chernobyl nuclear disaster of 1986 then you should definitely play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Based on the classic russian sci-fi novel Roadside picnic. The game takes place in the exclusion zone surrounding the Chernobyl NPP affected by radiation. The zone is filled with mutants, strange anomalies and S.T.A.L.K.E.Rs who hunt for artifacts created by the radiation.

The game is an FPS with RPG elements as you progress you can upgrade your guns and gear and join various factions that suit your personal pursuits. The guns are quite inaccurate and do break down and the game is especially difficult as you try to fight off mutants, bandits and radiation. The game's real strength is it's immersive and spooky atmosphere that carries through the game.

I heartily recommend S.T.A.L.K.E.R as a fan of atmospheric games as it's a game I reinstall more often than games like Half Life 2 and Deus Ex.

CS:GO Review
If you've played a Counter Strike game before then CS:GO should be a natural fit.

While CS:GO keeps the elements of Counter Strike you know and love, it gives the series a new lick of paint. As well as the updated graphics there's also new weapons, maps & game modes.

The most prominant addition however is the inclusion of competative matchmaking. Now you can engage in gripping ranked 5v5 competative games. While some players may prefer to play the more casual game modes, playing competitively is definitely the new school cool.

Unfortunately, like other popular games with competative matchmaking CS:GO suffers from toxic players. So if you're going to try out competative matchmaking I highly recommend you play with friends rather than play solo. Trust me, you'll have a fuller head of hair in the long run.

Another major feature added to CS:GO is the addition of cosmetic items. Weapon skins & sprays now drop at random at the end of games or are avaliable to buy via loot boxes and the Steam Market. Say what you will about lootboxes, but they're here to stay if you like it or not.

Luckily, the addition of the cosmetic system doesn't deter from the in-game experience. CS:GO offers a refreshed, exciting counter strike experience. It's still just as fun to play as it ever was and Valve have done good work bringing this PC Gaming standby up-to-date.
