I don't think it's a direct Alien prequel though - just a movie that happens to be in that universe, don't know if it's got any bearing on Alien.

I haven't seen Prometheus myself - BAD FILM STUDIES STUDENT - but I would say Alien and Aliens are essential viewing. We don't like to talk about Alien vs Predator.

Ok, so my Mum got Prometheus on LoveFilm without knowing what it is about, getting only for its great reviews. When I explain it is the prequel to the Alien series she obviously doesn't want to watch it and is ready to send it back. The question is, however, should I watch it before she does so bearing in mind that the only Alien film I have seen - if you can call it that - was Alien vs Predator or should I watch the originals first?
