Fun "old school" feeling shooter.
Not perfect and plenty of little issues, but the devs seem to be responsive so far and communicate well.

It lacks a bit of the silly "Battlefield Moments" so far but I think that's likely due to the smallish maps that we got at launch. If we get more classic combined arms maps over time, those moments should come back.

If you like MP shooters and want something with a bit more substance and skill than COD, it's worth a purchase.

Got it for 50% off. Haven't stopped playing. Honestly way more fun than the internet makes it seem. Turn on crossplay and you won't have an issue finding games.
Great movement and gun feel. Pretty simplified leveling process. SBMM seems light if it's there at all.
It's a BF game. There's gonna be balance issues and BS, but it's part of the brand at this point.
Definitely worth $30, but I'd still buy it at $60.

Early Access Review
BOUNDLESS FUN!

I have been following Boundless since I first saw the trailer at Paris Games week back in 2015. When I saw the updated trailer at PSX in December 2016, it became somewhat of an obsession. I purchased the game in early January 2017 and it has since become my favorite game to spend time with. DO NOT dismiss this game as "just another Minecraft clone" Boundless deserves much more than that. There's no denying that Minecraft as well as other Voxel games are an inspiration here, but Boundless aims to be much more than just a prettier version of those games.

THIS GAME IS IN EARLY ACCESS

You should know that before you jump in and Wonderstruck has been very upfront about letting potential customers know. You should be prepared for occasional bugs, glitches and even server wipes. That being said, Boundless is incredibly polished for an EA title.

THE GAME

What drew me to the game was the freedom, but also the structure. Let me explain... I generally don't like sandbox games too much. I like the IDEA of them but with most I have fun running around for a while and then get bored and quit. I like a bit of structure and direction in my games, it's just the way I am. Boundless has the perfect mix of both. The absolute freedom to play how you want is certainly there, but it's joined with a solid objective and leveling system to keep me engaged and progressing. At over 50 hours and counting I have not hit the wall of stagnation that normally do in sandbox titles. There's always something to do or work on in Boundless and the systems are masterfully interwoven to keep a task in front of you at all times. Another aspect that drew me to the game is it's aim to be a fully functioning MMORPG. These systems are NOT fully implemented yet, but I can honestly say that if the game is already this fun without them, they will only add to the overall experience. An important note here is that the game plays equally well as a solo experience or as a group. I generally have 1-2 hours max for a play session and I have no problems getting on and making a bit of progress before logging off. Long play sessions are not mandatory and the save system is very well implemented.

DEVELOPER SUPPORT

Wonderstruck has been amazing at communicating with players and facilitating a genuine conversation about making the game a better experience for all. If you have ever wanted to shape a game by sharing your ideas, Wonderstruck is fostering that community here. The forums are extremely lively and you can expect the devs to be responsive and active. In my 3 months with the game I have seen player suggestions not only listen to, but actually taken and implemented into plans for updates. The devs communicate weekly on progress made and we have been seeing almost weekly update to the live version of the game.

A side note: I have seen some comments on hesitation due to the length of development with this game. Normally this would be cause for concern, but after you play and realize how massive and ambitious this title is, it is actually comforting that they are taking the time needed to get it right.

COMMUNITY

The best gaming community I have ever been a part of, hands down. Everyone has been fantastic since day one. Being a fairly obscure early access title, info and gameplay guides are pretty much non existent. This would be a huge problem as Boundless is a game of very complex intertwining systems, but the community is filled with players both new and old that are more than willing to help and guide fresh players. The forums are fantastic and there is a player Discord as well. I have already made legitimate friends here and I expect I will make many more in the future.

IN CONCLUSION

If you are looking for a game that offers creativity, community, challenge and endless possibilities, Boundless is a game you should consider. If you purchase in Early Access, you need to be prepared for an incomplete experience, but you will also have the access and ability to shape the final retail product. The retail release version 1.0 is scheduled for some time in 2017. Join now or wait for release, but give Boundless a chance. I believe you will be glad you did.
