I wrote my original review 9 years ago and all of it stands true today. But now they've released 1.0 and the game has this whole beautiful UI and it works just great on the Steam Deck. Please buy and love Qud.

A beautiful tileset breathes new life into a classic roguelike game. I've been taken out by boars, salthoppers, and fire ants while trying to hunt down a ton of wire, and I love every moment of it.

Even the random characters you come across have deep stories and rivalries. I watched a herd of Gnu fight a pack of tortoises because the tortoises disparaged a famous poet that the Gnu took a liking to. After giving the head Gnu some water, the tortoises swore to kill me as well.

The only thing I wish, was that I would spawn in different areas, so that I didn't have to do the same starting quests every time.

10/10 will play again and again and again.
