i use BSPSource. decompiling is mostly harmless, but it often scrambles things (like making each func_detail brush separate). decompiling a map with custom assets also works, just expect to see missing textures and error models.

Hi. Can you tell what program are you using to decompile maps? Is it that good in re-creating a map or are you manually fixing all problems?

Hey man, I'd really recommend avoiding any maps released in the last few years if you're gonna reupload them to the workshop. You're gonna get a ♥♥♥♥-ton of hate from the mappers who are still around since most of the maps that have been popping up recently on TF2Maps are still in development! Mappers like to make sure their maps are "Ready for Release" when they put them on the workshop, as the workshop is meant for professional map releases. (This is in response to your comment on koth_fjord)
