משוואת הישר היא משוואה מהצורה y=ax+b

a מייצג את שיפוע הישר.

בתרגיל שלך, נאמר כי הישר לו אנו מעוניינים למצוא משוואה , מקביל לישר y=5x+1 ולכן אנו כבר יודעים שהשיפוע של שני הישרים שווה (אחרת לא היו מקבילים), כלומר שיפוע המשוואה של הישר שאנו מחפשים הוא 5 (a=5).

כלומר כבר נוכל לרשום חלק מן המשווואה:

y=5x+b

כעת נפנה למצוא את b.

b היא בעצם נקודת החיתוך עם ציר ה-y, ואנו יודעים מן השאלה שמשוואת הישר שאנו מחפשים עוברת דרך הנקודה (1,14) לכן נציב את ערכי הנקודה במשוואה ונחלץ את b:

14=5*1+b

נעביר אגפים ונקבל ש: b=9.

לכן משוואת הישר שאנו מחפשים היא :

y=5x+9
