there are some very loud negative opinions you may hear about this game, but it's truly a very fun game. Downloaded last summer and nearly have 500 hours. It's an addiction for sure

Edit:
I have 1k hours now. I have more takes. But, I’ll keep this review beginner friendly.

Positives:
1) one thing i will say, is that the negativity from people is loud and influential. I have found that i will enjoy this game, or what small problems i do have, are small. For example, i may have a game that goes really well, and then we somehow lose. My first thought is, oh, maybe someone made a mistake, or didnt see the killer coming, or maybe that DC was because that person’s internet cut out or something. But then other people will blow that sort of situation out of proportion. My advice? Don’t listen to other people’s opinions before forming your own. Seriously. Don’t. How is this a positive? Well, it means that the negative shiz you keep seeing is likely not as big of a deal as people say it is.

2) This game is really hard for beginners, but lately, Behavior has been doing some really good updates. They’re making perks easier to read, the layout easier to follow, and giving more freedom with accessibility. They’ve been doing really good with this. I hope they continue. I also recommend watching other people play and watching guides. It really helped me.

3) You may get into the game, and see all the survivors or killers behind a pay wall. The good thing is, survivors are the essentially just cosmetics. The only difference in playstyle is that some survivors are louder or quieter than others. What you want is their perks. DBD has this thing called the shrine. You may be waiting a while for the perks you want to come there, but you can buy them with a given in game currency (even on the licensed surv)

4) also going into this, you get a good chance to get cosmetics. They have this thing called the rift. They have a premium version you buy for 1000 auric cells ($10). But when you get to the end of it, you earn those 1000 auric cells back, plus other currency, plus cosmetics. You get your money back and more.

5) almost all survivors and killers go on sale for ~half price every anniversary and halloween. Save your currency, be patient, and then splurge. Also, DLCs sometimes go on sale, so keep them in your wishlist til then.

6) you can make as many friends on here as you can enemies. Try to join discord servers. You may also get updated on deals or free stuff you wouldn’t have known about otherwise.

7) Lately, they’ve done pretty good on balance. Given, there are a few tweaks here and there, but they’ve improved imo.

8) i think that they are having a great start to the year. Last year wasn’t great, but hey, stuff happens. Im really positive for how things may develop.

Negatives
1) with this game, stuff can get expensive fast. As survivor, you’ll be okay if you just stick with the given survivors. Perks you want have a chance of coming to the “shrine”, a place where you can buy them with a given currency, like stated before. However, there are so many perks, that you’ll be waiting a while. Some discord servers will update you on whats on the shrine.

As killer? You’re not so lucky. If you want better killers, you have to pay. They give iri shards to buy these killers when you level up. But licensed ones are behind a pay wall. Understandable, they’re licensed. But, for this reason, i feel as though they should be more generous with their rewards- especially iri shards. I recommend adding DLC to your wishlist and waiting until they go on sale. Also, every anniversary event and halloween, almost all characters go on sale for half off. I stock up on currency until then. I said this before already, but repeating because YOU SHOULD DO IT.

2) going off of this, lately, Behavior has been more stingy with their rewards. You don’t get as many bloodpoint offerings (what is used to level individual characters up). They’ve also screwed up map offerings. This sucks if you’re hunting achievements. I was trying to do so, but I have been so frustrated that I stopped playing for over a month. Came back for 2v8. Now im back for the update.

3) When it comes to complaints to the game, Behavior seems to listen to a loud few people, and fix issues a majority of people don’t have problems with in the past year it sorta seems.
