I'm in my 40s, Ex-Military, and currently doing my best to get through life. I've been playin' games forever and I don't really care about appearing good at them. I just like to have fun with my games. I'm too old now for petty video game drama and trying to be the best at them. I've never cared for it anyway.

I have a Sega Genesis, Gameboy Advance, PS2, PS3, PS4, PS5, a PC, a WII (I might've given that away by now actually), and a Switch. I had the xboxes before, but I sold them. No reason- it just happened that way. I also have a ton of video game console based novelties like the NES mini, SNES mini, Sega mini, C64 mini, Neo Geo mini (probably my favorite because while you can connect it to a TV it came with its own screen so you don't have to which is neat), Playstation mini, and that Nintendo Game & Watch Super Mario Bros. Edition (I also have the Zelda one). I also love getting those mini key chain size arcade machines- I got a bunch of those. I love those kinds of things. I have all the re-releases of the Tiger Electronics games (X-men, Transformers, Sonic, and The Little Mermaid). I am a sucker for that kind of stuff. I would have gotten the tiny single game gears but I have never found a way to get those personally. I did not get the TurboGrafix 16 mini because that came with games no one wants in Japanese which is stupid to me. I would still get it if I saw it at a pawn shop for $20, though. Yes, I am familiar with and can mod raspberry pi's. I am still a sucker for that other stuff. I love video games and video game based art!

I like most games and have a tendency to play old ones when there's nothing new I want to play (and not just 80s games, sometimes I feel like playing Ghosthunter on PS2 or the original release of Call Of Duty Black Ops). My list of games would probably explain that best. Some amount of my games have become obscure, but I love to collect games. At this point I'm not sure, but a large part of it could be the box art too.

You can see a defunct list of my games collection here. [darkadia.com] I have over 1000 (physical games as well as digital games). The thing is I have so many games I didn't like the way that site handled some things, and never fixed the problems anymore, so I paid for an app on my phone that I find easier to keep track of my games more accurately right now so I no longer use that website so that is only a partial list up to whenever I stopped using that site years ago.

I have over 2000 movies (almost 3000 at this point- yep), but due to the ever evolving internet I no longer have a list online. I use an app on my phone to keep track of them although I am aware of the website Letterboxd.

Check out my old Giant Bomb blog that I wrote in when I had something to say saved here until GiantBomb dies! [www.giantbomb.com] Sadly It may not last much longer the way corporations are killing everything lately.

Don't go to Gamespot, or any games media website it seems now, for accurate game NEWS and information. [www.gamespot.com] I have been saying for decades now that Gamespot is dead and no longer employs anyone who likes video games. All games news is dead unless run by fans and not political shills. And not the fans that are doing paid advertising in their content. They are corporate shills you morons.

I wrote too much: Anyway, thanks for wasting your time reading what I wrote! That was nice of you.

I found this game incredibly enjoyable. At the outset you cant really tell if it will be fun or not. It appears to have a lot of grind, fetch quests, and a lot of other stuff that most people would say are no nos, or at least never fun. Somehow, though, they manage to make all of this stuff fun with silly writing, a really awesome array of weapons, goofy customization galore, and crazy platforming that works well and isn't as hard to figure out as you may think at first.
By the end you're able to do some crazy stuff, and it's a breeze getting around the map. It's incredibly fun. i'd say the insane "super" parkour you do in this game is one of the best features of the game. The second being the weapon variety.
It's a shame I don't know that this game did very well so I don't think we'll be seeing a sequel because I'd love for them to do more with this idea, but I'm glad I played this.
There are a few issues I'll mention. I don't know if it's my computer (I dont think it is), but occasionally the graphics glitch out. Once the game even stopped loading the world in fast enough and I fell through the world. This only happened once, so no big deal, but just in case I mention it. Also, there's a few times in the regular game when the sound is just missing on dialogue and sound effects. This also happened on one of what I assume is the DLCs (as they are missions that are not part of the main story). A large portion of it in fact had no dialogue or sound effects. It's weird. I don't know what that was.
All in all this was a cool idea, and surprisingly fun. it's a shame it's hard to express how cool this game is to play because it's all in actually playing it. If you watch a video, at least for me, I don't feel you see the up side of the playing this game which is in how competent the mechanics are and good it feels to grind around the world blowing hordes and hordes of enemies up.
I highly recommend this game. This is a hidden gem.

I only recently realized I have never reviewed this game I have played 100 hour+ properly despite giving it many nods in various blogs and lists on some video game websites.
It's more difficult for me to review good games, I feel, because I feel I have so little to say beyond "it's so good."
So, I'll start by saying a good thing in a negative way that actually means a good thing, but it will be written out as a negative.
This game has ruined my ability to play other pinball video games without seeing how bad they are. When I was a kid I played a ton of "Pinball Illusions." We had the shareware I think, or maybe it was the whole thing it's so hard to remember (that was, like, 20 years ago ya'll), and I remember really enjoying it quite a bit. Recently I found it again on GOG and boy does it not hold up. It wasn't the game I remember. I already knew the physics weren't there because I remember that, but the sounds aren't great, and there wasn't really much to the tables beyond hitting the ball and getting points. There is little to no nuance (unfortunately no pinball game has, or maybe can, replicate some pinball strategies from reality but unlike Pinball Arcade most pinball games have 0 strategy- even table bumps which only seem feasible in this).
The thing about really good pinball, beyond scores that really matter, is that you need to feel like you're accomplishing something. Even if it is in a very short amount of time (which really good pinball does). That moment when you've done everything you need to do to line up the shot to attempt the 1 billion point score in "Bride of Pinbot" is a real accomplishment and feels good when you do it again.
This game not only captures the look of real pinball tables (most of the greatest pinball tables of all time), this game captures the actual feel of a real pinball machine. Maybe not entirely- but as a digital substitute it is truly incredible how much this feels like you're playing the real thing.
I wish it had a few more tables (there are some licensed tables I don't think they'll ever be able to actually get the rights to), but overall I cannot say enough good things about this pinball simulation.
Also, I don't know if this is recent as I only really started noticing it within the last few months, but there are some cool options to turn down the lights in the room the table is in and turn the lights on the table up. They also added some light up pinballs which make it more feasible to play the "dark room" tables and it adds a lot to the game for me as some tables are best in the dark.
I do have some negatives to say here. While they have mostly ironed out all the bugs I care about (I play this in DX11 and other than occasional hiccups after patches, which usually get fixed very quickly, this game runs fine and they never take tables I own away like some other Pinball games that I do not recommend *cough*ZenTrashPinballFXTrash*cough*) I really hate that there is no way to play and see the entire table. When I play a real pinball table one of the things that I love is being able to see the back board while I play (because often tables do things with the back board). They float the score board just above the table in space, except tables where you can see the display right above the table (which is only a few tables) and I really wish I could just see the whole table sometimes because a lot of times so much happens up there, but I also understand why this is not ideal to implement so it really sucks. You also cannot implement the strategy of bumping a pinball tables plunger forward rather than pulling it which is a strategy you can use on a few real life tables but not here. I don't even know if that is possible in a simulation given subtle variances to bumping a plunger like that.
To go on from here would be to just get into Pinball as a hobby (tables that give billions of points easily are bad score board tables) so there just isn't more I can say. This is unequivocally the best pinball simulation around. Anyone who says otherwise is technically wrong (even if they enjoy another one, that doesn't mean that one is better- because it's not).
