Best of luck to you, hey you can try it maybe you can get more playtime out of it than more experienced players, but once you understand the game you will also understand how it falls short in just about every category. I played both HLL and PS and HLL was my favorite game (but also died to me dec 2020), but PS did many great things compared to HLL like spawns. This all got erased with OWI/MA's first update when they destroyed it and put in their flagship Squad's logistics and made the game an absolute slog. I was the one making spawns and carrying the game, until it was so burdensome that it was more stress than fun. PS had a good community going for it in game, but since being on their discord, it's extremely toxic. 3/4 of OWI's titles are dead or dying, and Squad is tanking also hence the move to UE5 to help revive it.

Oh and not to mention there's only no full servers right now, only 113 players. Yet steamchart reports 260 players. They have more bots on the menu screen than actual players. I have videos showing they can add as much as 300 bots to stat pad steamcharts. Scummy company and terrible game. I would recommend arma reforger way more than this game, even with it's problems. Squad 44 was a knockoff and love live Post Scriptum which was a masterclass of a game, and it ran better even compared to today after their engine upgrade failure before the game went bust. RIP

Iwo Jima only caused 5% growth, that's how bad the new content broke the base game and players left in droves. It's over, and even if optimization magically increased, the strategy part of the game died shortly after the takeover. It's a battle of which skilled/experience player wants to suffer to make the game work, and then they leave and the whole game crumbles. They have made some of the worst game design decisions of any game I've played, they utterly ruined what made the game great, because it's a bunch of talentless diversity hires probably slaving away in a sweat shop in China while they mine and sell your data to the CCP. In their very first update they did what 90% of the discord's feedback asked not to do, and they haven't done anything about it to improve it. Dead game through and through. Exit scam is almost fulfilled.

There's 1 active server US time and 2 on the weekend... save your money and avoid Squad 44. It's going to die by the end of this year with only 1 map in the next 6 months. The community manager already left from only 16 months of development. It's dead in the water, a shell of it's former self. Anyone telling you otherwise is desperate for more players and they die out faster than they stay. Even with NO developers, the game always had 2 servers going (well maybe the last few months before it was taken over). The player count is essentially the same as when it was dead. It died the minute a corporation took over and removed all the good things about the game. I played the game daily for 2+ years and loved it, then overnight they ruined it and if you check the steamcharts, the numbers don't lie. There were more players hyped over the game being revived than when they actually pushed out new updates. It just had one of it's worst months on record and we're 5+ months away from a new map.
