Over 423 days since release and still no FAL in sight. Truly a -100/10. Stick to the OG GF for the time being, there is still a substantial number of tdolls missing even after a year in.

They did not playtest this game AT ALL. Or if they did, they blatantly ignored the issues and pushed for release anyway. I am softlocked now because of a glitch regarding a breaker after a certain chase scene. Some of you know exactly what I'm talking about, its not even a rare glitch if my google search for a solution is any indication. The last autosave is literally hours behind from where I was and honestly I just dont have it in me to play through this broken mess all over again over a gltich that should have been caught and fixed by simply playtesting the game. Avoid this game until it gets A TON OF PATCHES. Believe me, there are plenty of other bugs and glitches aside from this, this was just the last straw for me. Game runs horribly too, I run Halo Infinite at max settings and get 150fps no problem, but this game chugs on EVERY visual setting, which is saying something because the lowest graphics setting is about as poor looking as a ps2 game.

POST CAMPAIGN RELEASE REVIEW:

The bottom line is that this Halo is great, but it is without a doubt a mixed bag. I recommend the game, but understand it has issues. I'll lay it out in separate sections, one for multiplayer and one for campaign because they have their own positives and negatives.

MULTIPLAYER:
Pros:
-Gameplay is perhaps the best for Halo yet, the majority of the weapons feel excellent to use and nothing feels too overpowered.
-Power weapon and special abilities are now pointed out to you, you don't have to wander a map in a custom game to learn the spawns. They also have nice little visual timers on them so that if you go to one and it isnt there just yet you can get an idea of how long before it will be there
CONS:
-XP still needs adjustment. You do not gain xp for wins or your performance in game. As a result people play for their challenges not the objective. Battle pass progression is much nicer now, but it doesn't fix the fact that playing anything but slayer is a real slog because no one cares about the objective unless their challenge is to win that gamemode.
-Some challenges require you play a certain game mode, this leads to people joining a playlist for the gamemode but they dont actually want to play that mode so they just mess around. This is especially a problem in ranked, as some challenges are for playing ranked.
-If you're playing free then you won't get hardly anything customization wise.

CAMPAIGN:
-Gameplay from multiplayer carries over even more so here.
-All of the weapons from what I can tell seem to be far better in campaign making them that much more of a joy to use.
-Even in legendary (save for bosses but more on that later) you get the feeling of being basically a God, especially once you max out your ability upgrades
-Grapple is a permanent ability rather than limited use like in multiplayer
-Banter from both enemies and friendlies is fantastic in this one. The dialogue was absolutely nailed
-Story is good more than bad, keeping in mind the mess they left on in 5 I think most of what they did was the best way to deal with the mistake that was Halo 5.
-Plenty of additional lore for the exploring types with the audio logs.
-Creative FOBs, I won't spoil the one that I liked the most but know that they aren't all "just kill a bunch of regular enemies"

CONS:
-Bosses on legendary are absolute hell. I can't talk much about them without spoiling anything but they are just generally not fun to deal with. I get the feeling on normal they're probably a blast to play against but I only ever play legendary and I can't say that I like their addition.
-They screwed up hunters, again. To be fair they are handled better than they were in Halo 5 in that they keep slow movement. However, they also gave them a charge shot that is just their fuelrod shot but as a machine gun for a few seconds. Not the worst when in open areas, but the last two you fight in the campaign took me the longest out of any encounter (including bosses) because of this attack. It only takes 2 hits to die on legendary, and when you're in a tight room, they're so close to you that chances are they're getting 2 hits on you. Stop trying to change the hunters, Halo 1-3 did them right dont keep trying to fix what isnt broken.
-The story attempts to convince you that the Flood is not the greatest threat. I can't say more without spoilers, but the new enemy that gets introduced is just silly. The forerunners did not mention them before, and even if theories about them are correct it would be a retcon to the floods origins and raises the question of why the forerunners never referred to them as what the game now calls them. Overall just a bad idea, given this is Zeta Halo we should have seen the return of the flood, not the introduction of some other thing.

Literally unplayable. It just gets stuck on the load screen indefinitely.

It was a genuinely impressive experience. Had some rough times as of late, and well it was helpful to hear an outside opinion on certain things. I don't want to say too much to avoid spoiling, but hey the game is free see what I'm talking about for yourself.

Pretty based, plays a bit like pokemon but more fleshed out. Shame to see goodwork ridiculed over political issues. Separation of the art from the artist is of great importance. Great game, would be a shame to see nothing more over what ultimately amounts to nothing.

I held off a review on this for quite some time now, but I figure it deserves it so here we go.

If you were hoping for gameplay similar to Sonic Generations understand you will not get that with this game. The game is comrpised of 4 different styles, classic sonic, modern sonic, oc character stages, and duo stages. I will be covering these individually.

Classic Sonic:
The worst stages in the game, and a real shame too because Sonic Generations classic sonic levels were fantastic. Classic Sonic is painfully slow in this mode. Spindash jumps while present do not go as far nor feel as good as they did in generations. The physics for classic sonic just feels really off and I found myself dreading these stages. You can get some semblance of speed with the drop dash (and you will not be able to complete the time challenges for this stages without using it so if you dislike the move as I do this kind of sucks. Much prefered the spindash jumps). There are mods that "fix" his physics but I have not tried these so I am unsure how effective they are.

Modern Sonic:
These are for the most part handled well, but I do have two gripes with them. For one the dash move is used for too much of the levels in my opinion. I like dash, but in moderate doses. My other gripe is that you can no longer drift yet they kept sharp corner in some of the dash sections. You will find that you need to start turning well before the corner or fall off the map. There is one othjer thing but after you get used to it the rest of game is easier. For whatever reason his jump feels off. I often found myself jumping either less than I expected or more than I expected. It appears to be based on whether you quick tap the jump button or hold it but it feels awkward none the less. Overall these are the best stages the game has to offer.

OC levels:
Interesting new concept but I simply did not enjoy these very much. In this mode you will play as your OC and use what are called wispons to defeat enemies and traverse the level. Depending on the wispon you have changes what attack it uses and what wisps you can use. This does add replayability since as you unlock more wispons you will be able to take routes previously not possible (For example the lightning wispon lets you follow a long string of rings to a platfrom when you get a yellow wisp). Still, these levels dont really feel like what you would expect from a sonic game so I felt eh about them overall.

Duo stages:
These stages were clearly made to appeal to the younger players of the game by having your OC play alongside sonic. I wont knock this too much because I know that I would have thought this was the coolest thing ever when I was a kid but as an adult the appeal is lost and you'll find yourself only using your OC on these levels when either the level requires it or you want to take a path only available with the wispon. For me these were basically aditional modern sonic stages so I like them but again the gimmick aspect was not something I really used.

Now for the other aspects of the game. There are 4 game mechanics I skipped over. The first is what are reffered to as SOS missions. There are 3 types that will appear as you complete stages and honestly are pointless aside from achievements and the challenge you get to complete a certain number of them. The second thing I missed are the challenges. These challenges are what will unlock the different cosmetic items and wispons for your OC. As such these are what affect 100% completion of the game (alongside red rings, moons, number rings, and S ranking stages). The third thing is of course the character creation. Its nice but really misses some basic things. Instead of letting you simply pick the colors of items, you are only allowed whatever colors the game decides the items can come in. Its nice, but lacking. The final thing is that you can level your OC up with the score you get from finishing a stage but honestly I do not remember what this does aside from allowing the completion of challenges based on the level of your OC. Also for whatever reason super sonic is not included in the game by default, to play as super sonic you will have to get the dlc.

Finally there is the Shadow DLC but as that is not part of the base game I won't say anything on it.

Do I recommend the game? If you like sonic games then yeah I do. You will still enjoy the game despite its flaws just as you have with the Sonic Adventure games. If you do not like sonic games I would not recommend it, the flaws may prove a serious negative to you rather than just an inconvenience.

EDIT: Whoops forgot to mention length of the game. It is short, but if you have even the slightest intention of completing the game 100% you will get far more out of it. I still have not completed it 100% (granted the only challenges I have left are the time based ones).

You owe it to yourself to play this game, it's free afterall. It was an experience I'll never forget, one so fantastic I will one day expect my own children to experience it as well.
Oh and one more thing

This game is a fantastic find, at least if you have a group to play with.

My first 15-25 games were experienced with a group of friends. It was the most fun I've had in years. If you have some people to play with you, especially if you have voice communication, I heavily recommend this game.

I won't say the same for solo play however. I played the game by my lonesome a few times and its by far the worst experience I've ever had. Without the communication that was present with the group I started with I found myself in games where players would not follow through. Players who in many cases just stood behind the turret and never made any effort to advance against the enemy. Games where a team mate just runs straight to an enemy turret and just stands in front of it until it kills them. It was funny because I had even stated to the group before that I was surprised at how there appeared to be next to no toxicity, I've since seen the error of my words, but it is a free game in the end. Speaking of which...

As far as the free to play aspect is concerned, I feel it's handled well. You have the free hero rotation like that of LoL along with the nauts (champions in LoL) being purchasable with awesome points. Heres where I have to give props to how the F2P aspect was handled. Awesome points are actually fairly easy to obtain and I never feel as though I am being forced into a situation where I can't play at least one naut I enjoy. Since I started playing I've already bought 2 nauts, with 10k saved up as I'm split on who to purchase next. I love how the points are handled, as I said I never feel as though I am being forced into nauts I don't want to play.

Overall:
If you have a group to play with definitely go for it, it's free afterall and as I said the free aspect is handled well.
If you have to play alone I'd find something else frankly, I don't think it's worth the effort.
