The scale feels wayyyy off. You get a couple units out and your CP is capped. Tank battles feel less realistic compared to the first one. All they had to do was take Assault Squad 2 into a modern engine and maybe add some more assets. It's a no from me.

Had plenty of fun hours, enjoyed the game while it was active, is definitely worth the $13 I paid for it.

Everyone is giving a bad review because yes, the game has stopped receiving updated. But he worked on it from 2018-2022, for a game that is $13. He could honestly just release it as 1.0 and it still fits the price tag

From the economies to the warfare, big disappointment.

I'll check in occasionally but I somehow doubt they will listen to the players and instead just pump out DLC, of which I won't be buying.

Despite enjoying it early on, I'm jumping on the negative bandwagon as the Developers went silent and are rushing a 1.0 release to close it, hurting Early Access and what it's true intent is for(working out bugs).

This could have been so good, the first RTS to actually have a creepy atmosphere

I wrote a review similar to this but was only 16 hours in, deleted it as I'm now close to 100 hours; here are some, but not all, of the Negative key points

TLDR: It's a game meant for console and "As wide as the ocean, as deep as a puddle"

-HOW DID THEY MAKE SPACE PIRACY BORING?!? HOW?????!?!?!?!???
-"The ship is a glorified tent" someone already said this in the reviews and I couldn't put it any better. If you were hoping to be able to skim the atmosphere, fly around the vast barren lands in search of life, well too bad. Games like Empyrion and Space Engineers have done this, seemless transition from planet to space, and this is Single Player only, what's the reason for this limitation???
-Loading Screens. So..Many...Loading Screens. Not long delays, but soooo many. Some understandable, for your jumps(though why not a cool warp screen to not lose immersion?) but some, just to enter the Ship? Cmon. There's already a mod to fix this but let me walk you through boarding your ship: Enter through loading area ::Loading Screen:: walk to inventory to deposit goodies ::Terrible menu:: walk to Captain Chair hit E ::5 second Cut Scene of sitting down:: Hold space bar to lift off ::5 second Cut Scene of launching:: Open map ::menus to choose area to land:: and then repeat that whole process but in reverse. If there is one mod to have, it's Ship Skip. But really you need many more than 1.
-Graphics aren't great, barely good. This has never stopped me in the past, but might for others. There's a mod for DLSS.
-Combat sees that typical issue when mixing FPS with RPG(though I didn't feel it in FO3/4) where enemies become bullet sponges. Why a pistol does 4x damage than the rifle using the same caliber is beyond me. And for it being the future, why are all the barrels warped? Bullet spread is redonk.
-Inventory system feels clunky, so does much of the UI but it's not the worst. There are mods for this.
-You don't actually have to refuel? Just be within the limits of the grav drive. Unlimited fuel is for children
-If you were expecting to EVA, forget it, you can't leave your ship while in space. I've only found one area that you actually have Zero G combat, and it's good! But only one area for a short fight, nothing more and haven't seen it since.
-AI = Bad ally but good pack mule
-Always pulled out of immersion. always. Even when you run out of O2 and meter fills with Co2, your health drains(understandable) but you. cant. actually. die. Nope, just hits minimum and that's it. Ugg

But of everything, truly the worst, the crime against PC gamers. We've been lied to, this is a console port. Well done but this was designed for XBOX. I had the feeling in the back of my mind, something was just off and no 'proof' of it because as Hodd Toward said 'this was optimized for pc' but what the nail in the coffin for me was, the outpost building. A switch to a building view brings the camera above, yeah this makes sense to build in this RTS view. The cursor is fixed to the middle, to move camera around you use WASD which means inaccurate placement of buildings. To zoom in and out, you move the mouse up and down. I was wondering, why the hell would they choose this config? And it dawned on me, it works because it was meant for the XBOX, the controllers have 'accurate' positioning because of the analog sticks. Afterwards it all clicked, the entire game was built and optimized for XBOX and it's all I could feel afterwards.

There is more but as I said, just the key points. 100 mods on day one, more than 600 available as of the 1st main day, mods will absolutely make this game but I'm giving it a negative review because it's not worthy of it's 85% positive fanboi score. I want so badly to love this game, and it's ok to be carried by mods(Banished, Rimworld) and with a large community it will certainly be able to create more than the developers can BUT NOT EVEN STEAM WORKSHOP INTEGRATION?!?!?! FIX IT

I shouldn't have to try this hard to like the game. But it's not that I don't like it, I'm just bored even though this is a genre I love, the theme alone should have me like the other games yet I'm not hooked.

Huge disappointment(I enjoy turnbased too) and they stopped fixing just short of a year after launch. Plenty of DLC though..

I was sooooo excited for this, having loved KSP. What a disappointment.
IN IT'S CURRENT STATE:
KSP but with lovely graphics(that thing modders did) but without any progression(It's sandbox only). But I think I can safely say, we didn't love KSP because of its graphics.
Once there is science/money/missions then it will be worth playing(for myself anyway).
If you never enjoyed the progression side and wanted everything unlocked, then ignore this review.
However, if the challenge and adversity is what kept you going, hold off.

I understand it is in EA and I believe that it will reach full potential. UNTIL THEN, negative review in hopes of motivating them to recover their once-wonderful record.

Also, performance is $#!7

Edit: Been 4 months, still sad
Edit2: The developer, along with the KSP IP, has been sold off the an unknown buyer. Womp Womp
