A blatant spiritual successor to the command and conquer games. Doesn't really do much to in terms on uniqueness or to excel at, but it gets the job done of scratching that itch, since EA ruined and abandoned CnC. If I had to compare it, it is a blend of CnC 3 and generals. Generals for the reliance on unit abilities, and 3 for the theme to the point where it also introduces a third alien faction late in the game. Though, unlike 3, there is no unlockable mini campaign for them, nor are they (currently) usable in skirmish/multiplayer.
Visually, the game looks very much like its inspiration, though it does have some performance issues. I also had the game crash a few times in cutscenes. Audio is decent, but the voice acting could have been better. They also shoulda just done low budge cheesy live action instead of the CG cutscenes.
Gameplaywise, if you played cnc you played this. there's not a whole lot to really go over. The campaigns are on par for the genre, with 2 11 mission campaigns for both human factions. The is a also a skirmish mode and a multiplayer suite.
Overall, a good but not great clone of a dead classic. A bit pricy for what it offers, so I would wait for a sale.

Very much a military theme/two point hospital type game. It's fairly solid in what it does, but I can't say it really excels at anything. Much like the afore mention games, it's supposed to be humorous, but the bad writing makes it completely fail at that aspect. Probably would have better taking a more serious approach. The ugly female models complete with "the cut", don't help.
There's a descent veriety of training regiments for recruits, though it does feel more like a special forces training camp, than boot camp. The campaign structure is a nice way to keep you going once you've built everything, and even if you send the best you have, casualties are always possible. So no relying on a small group of elites to carry the game.
The game could have used more fleshing out, but being that as far as I know it's the only military theme hospital esc games, it's good enough.

Plays like a mobile strategy game, but actually good. Most of the combat is automatic, and most interaction during combat is deciding what units/powers to deploy and when. Most of the time this works fine, but sometimes units will take the worst possible path and get slaughtered. Some way of redirecting them is nice. Other than that, the simplicity of the combat can be fairly addictive. It can also be repetitive once you've tried out all the different unit and power types.
While I wold normally pass a game with blocky minecraft like graphics, but here it works quite well. The sound track is also quite good.
My biggest complaint is there is no set campaign to go along with the randomized conquest mode. Hand crafted will always be better than RNG generation.
Still, it's a fun little stategy game that is good for those that want a simple starting point, or are just tired of the micromangement messes that a lot of modern games have.

Went into this expecting a historical parody like eiyu senki, and while it kinda is, the game can't decide if it wants to take itself seriously or not. Tries to be cute and funny with the gender swapped dictators and generals, but then spends the first half of the game lecturing the player to remind them that you are on the wrong side. As if that really needed to be stated. It's even more ridiculous that one complaining about genocide and racism is Japanese, as if they weren't just as bad as the nazis if not worse. The writing is really bad, and they should have chosen a lane and stuck with it. The game also ends abruptly, skipping much of the last 3 years of the war.
The combat isn't much better. You send out a single unit into 1v1 battles. If that sounds like pokemon, it is. Only it is much worse. Enemy units often out level yours, and there is no rhyme or reason to weaknesses and resistance. Sometimes machine guns will cut right through a tank's armor. RNG also favors the enemy, as player units will often miss or fail to stun, while the cpu doesn't have that problem. Just save yourself the trouble and play on easy to skip the battles.
And the last nail in the coffin, is the game is unstable. It often lags when there are screen effects like snow, and the game crashes at the end, making the character endings unviewable.
The game needed a lot more time in the over. I suggest passing this one up.

Youtuber bait who's time in the sun came and went. But, that's not to say it's bad. I got it in a bundle, and that's probably the best place to pick up a game like this, apart from a deep sale.
Taking place on a single open map, the game's atmosphere is good. The game is quite short, took slightly less than 3 hours to nearly 100% it (Was only missing a few paint cans). Good way to kill an evening if you want to have a trail duel with a giant spider, so I can't say the game isn't somewhat unique. Just keep expectations low.

I was actually surprised by this one. I don't normally like run and hide horror games but into the pit was surprisingly well done. Especially for a game that is based on the books, which (at least until secret of the mimic) were supposed to be their own universe from my understanding. And while I was skepticle of this, and the fact that it seemed like it was going to be like fnaf 3 (One enemy and its springtrap again with the others just getting in the way like the phantoms), I can say that this is what 3 should have been.
The sprite work is very well done, as is the audio design. The game has a very oppressive atmosphere which makes the restaurant feel like it was in the first 2 games, even if the layout is different. The run and hide gameplay is fairly forgiving unless you corner yourself so it never feels cheap and irritating like many other horror games of this type. The story is pretty well done, though there are some things that are never explained like why springtrap can fool other people into thinking its a human or why he acts like a dad during the day when he could kill you in your sleep. I assume you have to read the book its based on and that's really the only major complaint I have for the game.
Overall, well done and maybe these guys should take over the franchise after SteelWool's disappointing hw2 and the dumpster fire that was sotm. And that's coming from someone that liked security breach despite its flaws and rushed state.

I don't normally play walking simulators, but I do like the idea of liminal horror and the backrooms. This one takes place entirely within the poolrooms (apart from the new chapter 0), which is something I have a strange fascination with. No other location can really feel both relaxing and unnerving at the same time. And the devs really nailed the look and atmosphere, making the game quite immersive. Especially in the new VR mode. Obviously, being a walking simulator you are never in any actual danger, which the game is upfront about before you even buy it. That does take away from the experience a little, as its hard for any fear factor to really kick in if you know there's nothing there. Normally I would ignore a game like that. But despite that, the great use of sound and subtle imagery does still keep it at least somewhat creepy. And the game looks pretty good. And unlike most backrooms games or a lot of indie unity/ue4-5 slop, this has proper key bindings.

On the downside, the game isn't optimized that well. Usually runs fine in flat mode, though it will ocasionally start chugging and forcing a restart. Especially in chapter 0. VR is where it really feels unoptimized. The normal levels are doable, but it does stutter somewhat. Chapter 0 is almost unplayable, since it stutters even harder. And as the level goes on it just gets worse to the point where it was stuttering constantly and I ended up clipping through the floor. I do hope they patch the vr mode to improve performance at some point.
The game is also fairly short, even with chapter 0.

But for the 7 bucks i spent onsale, it was well worth it for a high quality maze of unsettling chlorine filled indoor pools.

Honestly, one of the better backrooms games amid a sea of half baked asset flip slop. And its also not entirely a walking simulator either, as there are a few entity encounters, which do keep you on your toes.
The game looks pretty good and you can turn the vhs filter off with the p button. The use of sound is also fairly good, which is important for these kinds of games.

While I do think this should have been in early access since the game ends rather abruptly, there are supposedly more levels coming in the future. As it is, the game is only about 2 or so hours long.
There are a few bugs as well, one of them game breaking. The door in the library wouldn't open after putting in the code, despite the sound of it opening playing. I was forced to skip the level with the level select feature (which you can also use to disable entity encounters)
There is room for improvement, but for 5 bucks it's pretty good for what it already offers.

The first good backrooms game. Was pretty cool when it first came out, but was held back by the fact that it's pretty obvious you aren't in any danger. there are a few easily missed glimpses of entities, but that's about it. It is a walking simulator, something i usually avoid like the plague. But for being a free game, it is a good representation of the backrooms and a love letter to the kane pixels series.

7.5 for the legion DLC
Would give a neutral rating if I could
For those terminator fans that wanted a tactical game, while at the same time liking their strategy games to be as micro management a logistics heavy as possible. The game is very similar to Syrian warfare (I think its even the same engine) But thankfully its not nearly as BS as that game was, though it does have a lot of the same flaws. Don't judge the because its based off of that dumpster fire that was terminator dark fate, the game has barely anything to do with the movie.
I will say the story is fairly descent and believable for a game that was based off one of the worst movies ever made. There is a lot of depth to the gameplay, and the maps are pretty beleivable. As someone who lives in Oklahoma, I can say that the
OKC Map is pretty accurate. At least as far as the highways go. And the game does have a good OST. But the game has a lot of flaws, a lot of them stem from being like Syrian Warfare

You spend quite a long time just prepping for missions by having to deal with not only managing units themselves, but also having to constantly deal with fuel and ammo, as well as the cost of moving units between missions. This doesn't stop once the fighting starts and supply ends up being a constant issue. It makes sense, (besides realism) since this is an apocalyptic world where resources are precious. But that doesn't always translate to a fun or intuitive experience, unless you really like micro management.
But thats not the games only issue. The path finding and unit AI is terrible. We have over 30 years of RTS games and this is still a common and serious issue with the genre. Units will get stuck on obstacles all the time (ramps and stairs being the worst offender.) So to add even more micro management you are having to get them unstuck. Which is especially fun during time sensitive events or under fire. Speaking of time sensetive events, the game is constantly throwing curve balls during the campaign, sometimes time sensitive, but often on the other side of the map at a time you aren't prepared for with out trial and error. Which leads to a lot of save loading. Which also sucks because the load times aren't good despite. Honestly the mission design is really one of the worst aspects of the main campaign. (Trust me the legion DLC is SOOO Much better with its mission design). And if that's not enough, the performance isn't great either. if there's a lot going on frame rates can tank. And even if there's not, you can get random stutters. Hopefully this will be improved when the next DLC drops.
But yeah, if it wasn't clear the main campaign is a bit of a slog. IF you are going to pick it up, get it on sale, but make sure to get the legion dlc. Aside from continuing the story, the micromanagement is toned down some, and missions don't throw nearly as much curveballs outta nowhere, allowing you to concentrate on destroying your enemies. Even the "commando mission" is tolerable. It's really what the main game should have been.
