This game is so much worse than games in it's genre such as Supermarket Together. It's been basically abandoned development-wise and the devs clearly just wanted to say it's released so that they could move onto their next game. Please avoid this one and play something else instead.

They completely changed the meta in the only update this game has had in years, dropping defence damage for a hero by 80% making that defence literally totally useless. I don't think they have any idea what they're doing. I'd have been happier if you focused on fixing the bugs in your game first before messing around with the meta and making your only remaining players have to regrind on different heroes in order to be viable again.

Honestly don't see the point in playing this anymore.

Feels very much like an arcade / mobile game, It's lost a lot of the depth and involvement that Evil Genius 1 had, a lot of the tiny details that you'd enjoy doing just aren't there, pretty much nothing feels the same, I don't understand why it's called Evil Genius 2 if you pretty much cast away everything that made the original great and what it was.

The tutorial is extremely hand holding and very tedious. Yet if you play without it then you get all the building types unlocked instantly which just ruins your sense of progression. Evil Genius 1 would make you go steal blueprints for technology or rooms which would risk you losing your good minions to get it and it had a whole sense of risk to it. Now you have everything from the start and anyone you send to the world domination screen (now called "the world stage" for some reason, I think 1's name for it was better) is lost automatically so where's the sense of risk in that? They're just gone so "Oh well".

Nostalgia probably doesn't help my perspective but overall I was hoping for something closer to the old game and this just doesn't feel like it has any depth.

I purchased the collectors edition, My statue came with some horrible cuts and marks on it and with how the game has turned out I'm really regretting buying the collectors edition.

I'll update this review as/if I play more.

A really good game, highly recommended, I really dislike the unskippable cutscenes and the 13-15 minute long credits at the end that are also unskippable but it's a really fun game if you like getting into a story. The monster hunting is what makes it though, it's a lot of fun.

A good DLC but honestly the shear quantity of unskippable cutscenes is really infuriating and yet another long credit sequence that was unskippable. Story really shouldn't be forced onto people when it's honestly not that great or necessary, it won't even let you skip anything on subsequent playthroughs.

I feel like this DLC would take a lot less time if you could skip through dialogue and cutscenes and it's really just pointless to force it down your throat. Feels like it's behind the times in that regard.

Have only had this game for under a week (yet I've put in 47 hours somehow) and the nostalgia is so real. It's easily one of my favourite games and the fact that it now has co-op (something which made me rush out and buy this) is fantastic. I love the different upgrade routes you can take and the longevity of the game. Co-op at high waves gets buggy and starts to de-sync, often at ridiculous levels such as towers not placing for other people etc. But co-op is a new feature and it's bound to get fixed, considering it's such a new feature and the devs haven't done multiplayer in a previous Bloons, it works really incredibly well.

Main game suggestions:

- Adding discord integration would be pretty sweet, just to show the wave you're on / difficulty or something
- Some more Achievements would be nice (in game achievements for monkey knowledge etc)

Some co-op suggestions:

- Maybe add a manual re-sync button in case people end up de-synced
- A ping utility would be really useful so you could "point" at something for your allies

Honestly there's too many things to list that this game has done right so you'll have to forgive the amount of suggestions over the amount of positivity.

9/10

An amazing game, really scratches the Civilization itch but has so much more to it and a much better UI / feel, would definitely recommend

Early Access Review
This game is a mixed bag. I love it and hate the direction it's going sometimes.

The gameplay is fantastic and by that I mean the ship combat is great but what let's it down is the rest of the game. They've recently done a new patch and a progress wipe, which fair enough, it's early access, no biggie. But what really sucks is they've changed a lot of the rates and values for things.

For example, ship crafting is a main part of the game, any good clan needs ships being crafted to keep sailing on the sea and progress. But this becomes almost impossible when withdrawing resources from production facilities costs your left kidney. I had a level 2 iron mine (not maxed) that has a capacity of 2200 iron ore in there, to withdraw it for use / sale requires labour hours (a passive resource that you regenerate) and reals (money). To withdraw the maximum i could by using all of my maximum labour hours it would cost 99,200 reals, that's a lot of money.

It seems to now be basing the price to withdraw the items from production facilities off of the amount of money you can sell that item to a port for. This is completely unrealistic and leaves you no profit margin and worst of all means that if you want to make a ship, this now makes it ridiculously expensive to even get into.

At it's current state I cannot recommend this game until they balance it more. There's more planned wipes and it feels like the devs are currently just applying a bit of paint to a unfinished game to get it "ready" for release. This game could be so good but unless they put some actual work into it, it's going to fall far short of what it could hope to be.
