It's more FEAR which is always nice. As far as the story goes, none of it matters because it gets retconned in FEAR 2. You can still play it to enjoy it though. Also I swear the enemies do more damage in the one and the game gives you noticeably more armor to compensate.

A perfectly acceptable horror shooter for those who like retro games. It does need mods for it to function properly, shoutout Echo mod for making this and the expansions playable.

I greatly hate how the main storyline is locked behind level caps and leveling is so extremely slow, even when grinding. Give a round of applause to everyone who played this in the 90s without any guides or help because this game would give me such a bad impression of video games if I played it back then. It was probably great for its time, the only issue is that it is not that time anymore. Not like the game can do anything about that though. Not it's fault.

I'm not even a huge fan of Boomer Shooters and this is the only one that I wouldn't find seeing through to the end, given that I had nothing better to play. I enjoyed what I saw and the Space Marines universe is fantastic on its own. I think if you are actually a fan of this genre of shooter then you would ♥♥♥♥ with this game heavy. It does be chewing up all on that bubblegum.

Its more F.E.A.R. and that's usually a good thing. It adds about four more hours of gameplay and it is noticeably better than the base game. None of that walking through an office building for like 4 intervals.

I played this with three friends and it made the experience much better. Not sure if I would actually recommend it, but watching two of them have a horrible time while my third friend and I swooned over Kamiko made it so much more fun. The writing is silly and gets old fast. The enemies can be overwhelming and get random resistances. I would not play this again or go back to finish side quests. The guns are cool. The type chart and elemental damage matters so much, you cannot ignore it. Also, the upgrade system is quantity over quality. If you are going to play it, play it for a fun time and not a good time. You have to let yourself have fun with it because the fun will not happen to you, you need to find it.

Not sure how to feel about this after further thought. I just don't think I liked the game. The story fell off very quickly and also dragged on to long. I think this game could be three to five hours shorter. A joke I kept making was that there are 3 different rising actions before a single climax or falling action. The characters are annoying. Mio is every single person who thinks they are dark and mysterious. Zoe is stupidly whimsical, but at least far more likable than Mio. The writing is annoying and gets old quickly. The gameplay loop is boring, however that is the point of these games- so you can play with a friend or SO that is not a gamer per se. So I'm not sure I can really fault it for that. I'll briefly mention the parts I liked, the people who have played will know what I am talking about; speedbike boss, ball level, tooth level, pig level, ice demon boss, and the magic town. I have no idea how this game won so much praise. Maybe I'm missing something...

It took me four hours just to complete the first real mission of the game. Grabbing something from a dungeon. By modern standards, I would say this is obviously a bad game. However, I can appreciate it for what it was at a certain point in time. This game is older than me, and to be honest, if this was all I had in the 90's to play on my family PC- that would be okay with me. I'm sure this game would have game with a manual or something, but you definitely need the internet's help to play this today.

Not only is this game worse than Dead Island, it also really doesn't make any sense. The water mechanic is so bad and the boats literally only work sometimes. You for real stop dead in your tracks when you try to kill a zombie with the boat. Its sometimes faster to just run through it. I'm so sick of this game. I'm glad its over.

This is a bad game to play if you are an impatient person like myself. Don't get me wrong, everything about this game is good EXCEPT for actually playing it. During each map, every 10 steps you take, the game stops you dead in your tracks to either; show you enemies spawning, show you where to go, show you environmental changes, or for pointless dialogue. Even killing 3 or more zombies at the same time stops you dead in your tracks to watch a 7 second animation. Every single time. Using the Nick abilities stop you dead in your tracks for a 10 second animation every single time. It's so stop and go that I lost all of patience for it and could no longer forgive it. That being said, I did finish it because it isn't hard...just frustrating to play. The story is funny enough and the music is good, I just disliked playing it. It's kind of a bad game that hides behind a "hot" female protagonist and sex humor. 5/10
