Thought I'd write a new review after completing all five endings.

Getting a few of the issues with the game out of the way:
  • Poor PC port. Although I personally experienced no major issues, it seems like there are a good chunk of people who did. Noticeable framerate drops. Bad UI scaling on my native resolution (3440 x 1440), so ended up playing windowed on 1920 x 1080 instead.
  • Some boss/miniboss fights may seem a little weird initially, but will fall into place with later information.
  • Not an actual con, but there are a lot of references to Nier Gestalt/Replicant which affect the enjoyability of the story. So at least read a synopsis of the story beforehand.

Then, all of my praises for this game:
  • ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the soundtrack for this game is incredible.
  • Combat is fluid and fun. Customisation with pods, plug in chips, weapons, as well as variation between third person/side-scroll/bullet-hell combat means that fights rarely get boring.
  • Not without its flaws, but overall one of the best game stories I've experienced, pulls all the right strings and ultimately very rewarding.
  • Side-quests aren't filler/grinder content and many of them add to the impact/meaning of the main story.
  • You can pet your pod.
  • Although the desaturated colours were a bit of a turn-off intially, now I couldn't really see any other colours working like these do.
  • Great character design, especially the machines.
  • Some pretty high quality voice acting (played with Japanese).
  • Please, pet your pod.

Highly recommended. I'm probably going to be aiming for 100% completion, which I rarely do in games.
