Looking forward to the full release, but I do hope some pathfinding issues will be sorted out -- like that time I inexplicably had people going up three rungs on a ladder and back down with high tide encroaching on them and, without any way I could find to see the pathfinding error, I had to pause and waste wood frantically building Led Zepplin's Stairway to Heaven to get them out.

I wouldn't mind a slower sea level drop (or option for it) in the full release, but that could just be me nitpicking and annoyed about having to constantly move my docks/collectors/cranes after finding the perfect spot for them YET AGAIN lol

100/10 you can pet the viscachas

This was a fun little game, and I'm so impressed that it was a student project! If you're a fan of survival games, definitely check it out. I'm excited to see where Arid, or this team, might go next!

To start off, I started playing the Avernum series in the early 2000s, around late middle/early high school. Having started at that age, the games had a pretty big effect on me, and I credit them quite a bit with making me interested both in games in general, and also in writing, which I'm now pursuing as a career.

I bought EFTP after much debate because I love the games, but I was not a big fan of the gameplay in 4-6, and had only ever played the first Geneforge. I don't honestly recall if I finished Avernum 4-6, to be honest. But I finally got the itch again and went ahead and bought this version, partially because I didn't want to keep bothering Jeff for game codes every few years lmao. That, and I've decided to subject my friends to some tabletop campaigns in Avernum, and I can record this version more easily for my notes.

I was very pleased with the update. No, it doesn't add a whole lot of extra content, and I'm mixed on some combat changes (WHY DOES HIGH LEVEL SMITE NOT TARGET MULTIPLE THINGS? DOES IT DO EXTRA DAMAGE TO DEMONS ANYMORE? WHY ME? WHERE DID BEAST CEREMONY GO?? but alternatively: HASTE TARGETS EVERYONE! CONE ATTACKS/AOES! ♥♥♥♥ YEAH).

But as for being in the spirit of the original? Very much so. Very much so. The nostalgia alone was worth it.

So I'd argue that, if you're just getting into the series, returning from a long absence, or just really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love the games, EFTP is certainly worth the money. The last time I played the originals (on Windows 7, I think?) I did have some issues, so having them updated was definitely appreciated.

Overall, I most definitely enjoyed my return to underground Australia, and am looking forward to 3's update in 2018.

Also, buy Crystal Souls, because that game's my favorite of the three and boy howdy am I enjoying the ♥♥♥♥ out of it.

> friend recommends game
> 'yeah ok I'll check it out'
>> seems cool, drop 15 bucks on it

Now I can't stop. It won't let me.

Help. Send help.

That aside, seriously, this game is bloody addicting. I got it four days ago and already racked up two days of playtime. I was not expecting the little touches that provide such depth to the NPCs and the wide variety of things to do and ... seriously, send help. I'm trapped.

Early Access Review
Spawned. Walked into the hydroelectric dam, expecting it to be full of goodies. Immediately mauled by wolf.

11/10 would die again.

In all seriousness, yes, the game at this state does not have a lot of features to it -- that's why it's an alpha. And sweet holy deities, is it the hardest survival game I've ever played or what! But, damn it, I will continue getting Jennifer Hale killed in nasty ways until I've gotten past 3 days. Then 4. Then 5 ... (Sorry JHale, no hard feelings!)

If the number of hours I've spent in this game are any indication, I figured I should probably scribble out a review.

I came into the Civ franchise on Civ 4. Now I'll admit there are some things I liked better in Civ 4, namely unit stacking and certain diplomatic features like vassalage and tech trading. Having to move all my units around separatly irritates me a little, mostly because I tend to have the attention span of a squirrel and often misdirect the units I'm sending to capture an enemy city.

However, Civ 5 is a great game, and a great improvement over the first. I highly recommend it if you like turn based strategy games.
