If I could only play 1 game for the rest of my life, it would be The Binding of Isaac.

This is one of the most satisfying FPS games I've played since doom 2016. It feels chunky, doesn't pull punches, and they even give you a ping system so you never get lost. An extremely enjoyable experience that feels like a long lost classic. Would even recommend to those not big into 40k and instead just like a good old fashioned action game installed across 14 floppy disks.

I tend to gravitate towards run-based roguelikelike type games. The Silent Hill-esqe aesthetic drew me in and the metroidvania style progression kept me coming back. You will gradually unlock shortcuts to various areas of the house, the rooms of which are scrambled after each death. The combat feels very slow and almost Dark Souls animation priority methodical. Your character is not a powerhouse, though through upgrades and spells you can definitely hold your own. I'd say this is a vibes game first and foremost but it has enough interesting ideas and tweaks to the run based genre to be worth a look, even if you're someone who has hundreds of hours in dozens of other run based games. It doesn't have the tail of most of the other heavy hitter games of the genre, but I am enjoying my time with it and am even pleasantly surprised by the story threads that pull the progression along. It's definitely made me realize how much more room there is for horror in the procedural run based space.

They got rid of the loot box BS from release and I can now honestly say this game is incredible. There's so much going on but it's never overwhelming and you feel like a bad ass the entire time. The nemesis system is back and more intricate than ever and now that the end game money grind has been patched, it just means there's more game there that is readily accessible without a paywall. Shame they had to learn the hard lessons at release, but hopefully they remember that next time...

After playing this on steam, and then buying it again on switch (where my hour count is MUCH higher), I can safely say this is the most a game has hooked me since Hades. The layers of complexity gradually reveal themselves the deeper into the twisted world you dive. Does RNG sometimes end a run unfairly? yes. Does RNG sometimes work in your favor? Also yes. This has become my pick up and play game at night. Just do a round before bed and see what happens. It plays so fast, and thanks to the large amount of inventory slots, games can feel very different from one run to the next while mechanically your decisions are still simple and streamlined.

Do not go in expecting a deck builder a-la Slay the Spire. This is something else entirely. While the look of the game is card based, I would hesitate to call it a card game and more of a spacial puzzle that is continually trying to kill you in different ways. I have seen 1 ending thus far and am excited to continue banging my head against this thing until I have all items unlocked.

For Fans of: Card Crawl - Miracle Merchant - Card Thief - pick up and put down quick game sessions
Not for fans of: meticulously balanced items, fairness, winning all the time.

Early Access Review
This game was a much needed surprise. Despite being E.A. the game already has a ton going on. The isometric angle takes some getting used to, but when a game has this much personality, i'm willing to forgive a few quirks. The Art, design, and sheer variety of the weapons and abilities gave me the same feeling like when I felt the hooks of isaac, spelunky and gungeon sink deep into my core. The excitement of an infinitely re-playable roguelike-like-likealike that's worth returning to is hard to beat. I rarely write reviews, but I want as many folks to play this as possible, because a game this good deserves a 2nd look once you forget it's (comically generic) name. I don't consider wargames a big interest of mine, but there's something about the unity of command 2 that's drawn me in. Counter to most wargames, UoCII is something I've been able to wrap my mind around and dig in to. The presentation is super slick and the visuals are miles above most of it's peers. If you're into strategy / tactic style games, this is an extremely approachable and fun experience that may open up new doors for the denser / less user friendly wargames out there.
