I've only played 3 hours at the time of writing, but I've seen enough: this game deserves to be in the pantheon of indies with Hollow Knight, Celeste, Stardew Valley, and the like.

Dunkey has impeccable taste.

It's Skyrim. Say goodbye to the real world!

If you can get past the intentionally ugly thing staring at you in the upper-left corner of the screen the entire time while you work out puzzles, this game -- and its DLCs -- will captivate and consume you for hundreds of hours.

Tons of user-made content too, including a 2400+ room hold larger than all five games in this series combined, which just released after 10 years:

This game activates a "flow state" more than any other game I have ever played; it seems to have been made for exactly me specifically. Whenever I log on, hours magically seem to fly by.

If you are the target audience for this game, you will feel the same way. Islands of Insight is a predictable, cozy, beautiful, peaceful world. It is also a carefully crafted puzzle game, but if you're expecting life-changing "eureka moments" a la The Witness or Baba is You or Stephen's Sausage Roll or Portal, you will be sorely disappointed. This game is not trying to amaze you (albeit you will make many cool discoveries!) Rather, it's a chill vibe--a world you can retreat to after a long day at work or school.

Download the demo before you buy. You'll know whether you are the target audience for this game within the first hour.

EDIT: Sad it's dead now, but I get it. This is a niche game within a niche. At least there's offline mode. Multiplayer never really existed for this game anyway.

Not just Cookie Clicker, but a thousand miles deep. A slow burn, but worth the grind if you can handle it.

Masterpiece in its storytelling, its environment, its combat and especially in its overall sense of freedom for the player. This game does not hold your hand but expects you to learn and survive in this brutal world and to carve your own path.

Additionally, the amount of content in this game is simply absurd. I'm 25 hours in and still have not finished the game yet, plus there is another expansion coming for free. $14.99 is a bargain.

Early Access Review
One of the best free-to-play games out there. "Easy to play, hard to master." Great replay value, weekly updates, no pay-to-win aspects... ignore the salty players and cheap tactics. Try it out -- it's free.
