Disappointment & Frustration

I had high hopes for Autopsy Simulator after my friend recommended it a few years ago, claiming it would be a great game. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a massive letdown.

The gameplay itself is riddled with issues. During the very first dissection, I encountered problems with taking a camera shot. The game demands you find a pixel-perfect point to take a photo, which is incredibly frustrating and tedious.

Inspecting models is another nightmare. The models spin wildly with the slightest mouse movement, making it nearly impossible to examine anything properly.

Cutting the ribs? Don't get me started. They magically disappear with no explanation, while other operations involve small, often buggy minigames. This inconsistency is jarring and breaks immersion.

Censor filter issues: The censor filter sometimes doesn't work, such as when you take a photo of the dissection. This oversight is unsettling and detracts from the experience.

Compile information included: It's also worth mentioning that compile information from the CI/CD pipeline is included inside the game directory. Directories like
Autopsy Simulator_BurstDebugInformation_DoNotShip
and lines in the debug log such as
Library: F:\Gitlab-Runner\builds\N9x6cA-B\0\autopsy-simulator\autopsy-simulator\Autopsy\Temp\BurstOutput\Data\Plugins\x86_64\lib_burst_generated
should not be present in a final release.

Suspicious publisher behavior: Additionally, it appears the publisher uses alternate accounts that don't look like employee accounts to respond to comments. This behavior seems suspicious and raises concerns about the authenticity of their interactions with reviews. An example of this can be found in the comments, and the evidence of that was retrieved from a public portal with Steam data, if you search their main username it will display their social media accounts such as LinkedIn or X.

To top it all off, I got softlocked after picking up another lung to view it. Being stuck with no way to progress is the final nail in the coffin for this game.

Overall, Autopsy Simulator is a disappointment. It's plagued with bugs, missing features, and poor mechanics. Save your time and money and look elsewhere for a more polished and enjoyable experience.
