Well if it was actually able to be installed then it might be a good game. Unfortunately its non stop crashing. Maybe a day two patch can fix it
Don't buy.

2nd Review
Well considering from start to finish this install was maybe 12hrs. They amount of hurdles required to install plus the fact that it is not clear on download from Steam that there is a launcher that will download and install the game. So many miscommunications and they are not easily found.

So the main issue stopping my installation was a Windows Update. So i pressed check for updates and installed them. This didn't solve it. Windows has two options for updates and it was the 2nd one that is considered Beta by Microsoft as quoted on previous disasters. A little bit worrying because now it will affect my other systems and software. So far its only affected my Game windows where the mouse just moves out of the window. Competitively frustrating since its fullscreen mode. So once this was figured out It was recommended to turn off Windows Firewall which is hilarious because its a MIcrosoft game. Please open up your PC to attack while you carry out a 90gb download.... from Microsoft. Yes I'm aware another Studio was involved.

Of course that was only the first hurdle. And the next was download crashes and freezes. This affected the draw of the PC as well causing other systems to have a hard time responding. The game would forget to pass through the Update portion of start up and get into the game causing me confusion and trying to fly. Battlenet has a feature where you can play without full download but stability can be problematic. So more restarts. If i walked away this would happen so I assumed a pose that seemed to make the PC gods happy.
Once finished at about 10pm at night I did a small flight only to find the Skytower in Auckland New Zealand looks like a really tall office block. For reference it looks like a needle mixed with a flying saucer, quite iconic down here. Vaguely disappointed but that's a little unrealistic view point. All that hype.

Of course my current flights are only through the World map so far since i'm a total noob for sims and understanding fixed wing flight in general. Drone operator here. But for some reason even when deselected the live time auto defaults every time you update a setting. So you set the time and go ohh lets change some weather and it changes the time by itself. So always set the time last.

The manual cache system seems to be an interesting feature particularly if you are flying constantly in the area however it won't download areas i haven't flown yet that i want preloaded anymore than 950KiB. I see it works for others but maybe the features are not meant to be simultaneously used. Who knows its not clear without research.

Trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees. There's an issue here it like when you build a RTS map when you are a kid and you think. We could do with more trees. They are everywhere even when its not true to life. A lot of places around the world are not covered in trees. Makes it seem like NZ is going bush. HELLO colonials. This does affect area knowledge while flying.

Elevations are not yet up to spec. But from using tools like DroneDeploy more data is probably needed to adapt the Ai. The Waterview Tunnels don't show up correctly as a result and there are plenty of worlds steepest hills randomly on motorways, highways and streets.

So far my observations relating to the actual game have been game aesthetics and that because i enjoy photography so I can't wait for updates.

Being a fixed wing noob the assists have been fantastic. Learning about over speed, flap control and the flight surfaces and control in general has been a path. I realised about trim from my days in the water and you will find yourself control bind hunting a lot.
I really want to get something better than a Xbox controller as the focus was definitely not on instant set up requiring a lot mucking around so every input doesn't send you to aft. Although the button inputs seem to be very slow requiring a moment before any actuation happens.
I found the little Biplane to be atrocious to control and it must be acrobatic machine. The Icon A5 has been a gem and it can land anywhere being a tarmac and water landing craft.

So if you looking to see some fantastic sites i recommend seeing if you can find your local landmarks because from real life experience it can give you great perspective and the game is relatively peaceful. A little goal of mine is to
try and find that Youtuber airforceproud95 and cause some hilarity.

So I plan to increase my ability by removing assists over time and learn more about world.
This game is still being developed so it can only get better.

Buy it

Its hard to go past this game. It has the basics down pat. Enough sameness across the teams to get any of the basics and enough complication to make various strategies viable. The upgraded AI sets have really made DE a worthwhile investment and the consistent content and patches mean the support has been phenomenol

I dont see a point in supporting a game that takes an aggressive stance against modification by the community.

When lawyers start attacking the fandom that have supported the game and kept it in the spotlight and the Developers and Publishers don't require to invest much in marketing. Then you have to ask yourself is this IP worth bothering with.
