If you'd asked me a week ago if I'd recommend this game, I would have said yes, then I received a two week ban.

What did I do? They won't tell me. All I get is an form letter saying that it was the automated system and that because of that, there's no way to appeal or review it. If you check on Reddit, you'll find other people talking about similar things, so I can only assume they decided to let AI take over the system.

Yes it's only two weeks, but it's in the middle of a limited-time event. On top of that, why would I want to put my time into a game that is willing to lock people out without any human intervention or review, and refuses to explain why or what I did wrong. If I don't know why I received it, there's nothing to stop it happening again, perhaps for a permanent ban.

So I'm done.

Believe me or not, it doesn't affect me. You've been warned.

Good game, overall, and Operator 2 will be an instant buy for me.

My two nit-picks:
1) One major part of the story was pretty obvious (to me at least).
2) It's far shorter than I would have liked (which tells you it's a good game or I wouldn't care).

I have to say, I was very pleasantly surprised by this game.

Summary: Excellent game that keeps getting better.

You may have heard stories about how bad this game was at launch, and they were right. But the devs has worked rediculously hard over the past few years, releasing free updates constantly. The game is nothing like what it was initially, and in my opinion they've more than redeemed themselves.

"Open world", mostly sandbox, but with a bit of plot that guides you through learning the systems.

My only major objection to the game is how sandbox it is. It's very much a choose your own goals game, and I sometimes struggle with that.

Good game, but like many puzzle games, a little shorter than I would like. Took me 5-ish hours to beat the first playthrough, though I missed a decent amount of acheivements.

Puzzles, are excellent, a mix of figuring out where to move things plus the order of doing it, and a few sections of platforming requiring normal human levels of timing.

Plot is a bit predictable, but you don't play this game for the plot. The voice work is good and they make some fun Portal references.

For a puzzle game, 8/10.

TLDR: Excellent game, 8.5/10

It feels like Men In Black/SCP/X-Files combined with System Shock 2, then thrown into a Halflife 1 retro engine.

Story is good, if somewhat confusing at times (purposefully).

The game mechanics are survival crafting, with a dash of RPG. Gear is, for the most part, varied and enjoyable, though late-game one weapon becomes the clear winner.

No major bugs encountered.

Best of all, it's still being worked on and added to, as of posting this review.

Excellent game. It gives me the same feeling as Subnautica, so if you like that, you'll love this.

  • Graphics are decent (very good in places).
  • Controls are neither especially good or bad.
  • Story is decently paced and keeps you moving onward.
  • "Base" building is excellent for what there's, but I can't help but feel there's more that could be done. However, the game is still being worked on actively and accepting feedback, so we'll see what happens.
  • The "levels" are well crafted, but there's tons of places, most of which are a slight variation on the base 10-15 stations. Disappointing, but it doesn't ruin the experience.

Overall: 8/10

This game is surprisingly complex and a pleasant turn-off-your-brain game.

Note: I would highly recommend playing Ship Graveyard Simulator 1 first, because both games are enjoyable, but the second one will spoil you compared to the first one.

Early Access Review
So I've supported this creator through Patreon for a while now and I'm thrilled it's come to Steam, so I bought it here.

The first thing to understand about this game is that it's not a sex game, it's a good story that happens to have some sex content. If you go in expecting the main character to start banging his way through town and end up with a huge harem, you're going to be disappointed. Also please note that it is early access, which means incomplete, though at the time of writing, I'd say there's 4ish hours of stuff to experience.

This is a visual novel with a branching story that is moderately affected by your choices. The characters will change and react differently to you based on your treatment of them or the things they've heard you've done, with (at the moment?) two main story paths (one of which then branches into two somewhat similar paths). Not all locations or events are available on all paths, so multiple playthroughs can be fun. The plot itself encompasses several mysteries that may or may not be tied together.

The graphics are a fair notch about the average visual novel, especially when it comes to the characters, though the animations are few and neither particularly good or bad.

The writing is pretty good, and though it's no Gibson or Tolkien, it's a damn sight better than a lot, hitting the level I'd expect from a professional book author.

As a work in development, I give it a 8/10, which includes my opinion of the speed of development, which so far has had a decent chunk of content come out every few months (if you follow single creator VNs is pretty good). I've been funding the creator through Patreon going on a year-ish now, so I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is.

Excellent game. It takes everything Owlcat learned with Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous and slams it into the Warhammer 40k universe.

Combat is mechanically and visually satisfying, allowing you to experience fights daemons, cultists, Aeldari, Drukhari, and a whole host of corrupted Imperial and Adeptus Mechanicus units.

I would have preferred more class options, but at the same time I can't think of what is missing, so I might be too harsh.

Like their previous games, it allows you to slowly progress down three morality paths (Dogmatic [for the Emperor!], Iconoclast [it's people who are important], Heretic [Chaos and xenos? Yes, please!]), with character actions dictating what which points you get, as well as your path enabling some options otherwise unavailable.

The mechanics, stripped of their WH40K flavoring is mostly the same as WotR, but they've added ship combat, and done a pretty good job of capturing the feeling of the tabletop Battlefleet Gothic, without making it overly complex.

I haven't even beaten the game and I can already tell I'll be back for more replays in a year or two, because the "morality" path actually adds quite a bit of different flavor and tactics.

Now, to the bad stuff. This game is riddled with minor bugs, none of which has been game-breaking and only one of which has been more than annoying. I'm disappointed by how many I've encountered despite the game being almost a year old. This is somewhat offset by the fact they including an integrated bug reporting system that allows you to mouse-over the bugged interface/item/planet/etc. and the info will be included in your report. Again, I want to stress, none of these bugs have been game breaking, just occasionally annoying, and I would not want someone to avoid the game because of them.

Overall rating, 8/10. It would be 8.5/10, but ya know, annoying bugs.
